Bath Bomb Fizzes

I recently purchased some bath bomb fizzes for my grand children. I bought them at a Spa and they were very expensive. To me 5 dollars is a lot for one bath. Anyway, I have thought about making my own for them. My question to you that do this on a regular basics is: Can I make them less expensive or is that a reasonable price to pay? I want to get these for my GD's for Valentines Day.

If your advice is to make them can you tell me where to get a recipe and the supplies? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Although I have made these (we call them bath bombs here, I believe) I haven't really dabbled in these type of bath goodies to any extent, but $5 is exspensive for 1 bath.

You will find out that the most of the initial outlay is the cost of the scent; much like the cold processed soap that I make.
If you make them yourself (like most items) the initial outlay may be mor money, but in the long run, they'll be way less money the more you make.

Make them and give as gifts at celebration times, X-mas, Valentines, birthdays, etc.?

Check most any soap forums, (ummm, not this one) for many recipes and suggestions?

I wonder if Terri here makes them?

Thanks for the info, decided to just buy some and send to the girls. Maybe in the future I will try when I have more time to collect all the stuff. Thanks for taking your time to answer.

What you probably have is "Efflorescence". See the link below where we had a discussion about it on this forum. You should have lime all through your mix because portland cement is made from limestone. You do want to place your piece in a water bath to leach out the lime and no you don't need to use vinegar. Change the water every day and you should be set in about 3 days. But this has nothing to do with efflorescence. Billie Here is a link that might be useful: Efflorescence

Our MBR has a bathroom for my DH on one side and one for me on the other side. We gut renovated these bathrooms and made significant layout changes to the MBR area of the house, but they were preexisting. I don't think i would have done it de novo, but I love it. Upstairs, there were 2br with a jack and jill. We put in 2 more BR, and added another jack and jill with the sinks separate from the shower and toilet room. We also have a full bath for our pool that we added, and two powder rooms (pre-existing, though one was moved). I think jack and jill is perfect for kids. I have come to prefer it over a hall bath because it keeps bathrooms more private. I prefer that the only public bathrooms are powder rooms.

Jo, I am making oodles of soap loafs cut into 1" thick bars (goats milk base), several clear M&P soaps, decorative soaps (bakery line, Xmas, cello bags w/dinosaurs for kids, festival fish and adorable hearts, butterflys and flowers for little girls), body butter, lotion bars, bath bombs and lip balms. I have been swamped but can't wait. My revised body butter has been a hit, almost all the recipes I got were to waxy and oily, I love mine, it is alot more work but worth it. I just made Hazel's bath bombs and love them due to the lack of oil in them so I am making quite few different fragrances in those. I am really unhappy with my flavor oil person for the lip balms, some of them are really lacking in fragrance and flavor, will be looking for a different supplier b4 next show. Gotta run, TIME TO MAKE THE SOAP!
