Bubbly: Decorating with Fizz
Everybody loves bubbles. Little kids toss them around in the bathtub and use straws to make them in milk. Older kids master the art of blowing bubbles with gum. And adults, well, they find their bubbles in champagne. Bubbles are light and funny and they're so much fun.
So it's no surprise that in decorating our homes, we're often drawn to objects and imagery that are reminiscent of bubbles. Like these:

I love this swirly wallpaper, especially with glamorous mirrored furniture as a complement. The wallpaper's pattern is full of motion and drama, but the conservative color scheme keeps it in check.
This arrangement of mirrors (similar to one I saw in a CB2 catalog just yesterday) very literally mimics one of my favorite images: bubbles rising in a just-poured glass of champagne. It's no coincidence that we often talk of "excitement bubbling up" - that's exactly the emotion that this wall triggers.
Dinner under these ethereal pendants would be fun. While the room as a whole is a little neutral-beige and heavy for my taste (I'd love to see some cleaner walls and brighter, lighter colors), the lights are amazing. I love that they're not opaque - they feel like real bubbles.
Speaking of lighting, I just wish I had a spiral staircase so I could hang a chandelier like this one. It's so dramatic and so cool - it looks like a waterfall and a whirlpool all at once. I love it.
Taking "bubbly" decor to the most literal level, this hot tub is fantastic. Often, I associate hot tubs with crazy '80s Miami Vice excess (or with the Real World Las Vegas, which, as funny as the show was, is not a positive). But here, neutral tiles, sharp eges and a clean modern planter wash away all the negative associations to make this tub look like a nice place to hang out.
Bubbles are commplace in the bathtub - but usually in the tub itself. I love this round tile - its orbs subtly echo bubbles in the bath.
What a great house - for so many reasons. I love the windows and the views and the arrangement, of course, but I also love the very subtle use of circles to add texture and a little something extra to the exterior. It's unexpected and very fun, but not over the top at all. It doesn't compete with the rest of the structure.
Kids' rooms are just begging for murals like this one. How much fun is this? How great would it be to play here? And isn't this a great use of visual bubbles to create a fun, flighty mood?
Bubbles for bubbly - creating a wine cellar with curved edges is so cool on a metaphorical level. But I also really love this space in practice. While the walls' curve does limit the actual amount of wine storage space available, it lends a cool underground tunnel feel to the space and just looks really great.
