Time for another update!

Hi,

I have noticed a lot of new names popping up in this forum, so lets do another get aquainted post. And a warm WELCOME to the new scrapbook addicts!

My name is Pam and I live in the NW suburbs of Chicago where it's very cold and snowy right now! I have been married for 24 years we have a Daughter who is away at school and one very crazy lovable Dog named Snickers. I have been scrapbooking for about a year now and have a long way to go with all the pic's I have. So far I have completed 5 albums, but I have to go back and add somemore journaling. I have been on this forum for about the same time, all the people are wonderful, creative and helpfull scrapbookers. This hobby is addictive! I can not drive by a scrapbook store without stoping in to just look ..... yea right! Well, welcome all you new scrappers, and Happy Holidays!

Hello !

I am new to this site. I try to stop by here everyday to read new messages. This is a great place to get new ideas.

I am from Tupelo, MS. I am 29 years old, married for 6 years, and I have a 2 year old son that I stay home with (trying for a second child as well). I have been scrapbooking for 2 years and am currently working on my son's third year album. I am also in the process of starting my own scrapbooking home party business. This will allow me time away from home (and the madness a stay home mom goes through) and a chance to meet new friends with the same interest. Oh yeah .. and the best part .. hopefully it will bring in a little income for me.

Thanks for all the great ideas and help everyone shares on this site. It's one of my favorites !

Hi,

Can't remember when I first found this site, but have enjoyed sharing and learning new ideas. I'm from Holmen, WI, married 24 years, with 2 teenagers, one son and one daughter. I started scrapbooking a little over a year ago, and have completed a vacation album and a racing album for my husband. Am just starting a book for each of my kids - hope to have son's done for his high school graduation next spring.

Dear Goddess... alright, you guys are making me cry now! All of this put together to raise my spirits... LOL and it's doubling as an amazing birthday present! Nikki, that box did very much raise my spirits! It had some manicure items in it as well as a beautiful bird feeder along with the other goodies! I am so looking forward to Cliff hanging the bird feeder for me! I am starting that book tomorrow! And my daughter has made sure I know that she intends to read it as soon as I finish! She's been wanting to read it and is really excited! Thank you so much again! I received another card today as well as two more boxes! Alana, dear friend! You card and the wonderful wishes inside brought me both a smile and tears! And the Cathedral Bells you included are going to be awesome! Yes, I do have my husband and sons that will plant for me. I can't wait to see it in bloom! Linda... you were the mastermind behind this! (HUGS) You are such an amazing friend! To organize something like this to bring my spirits up! And it was much needed after the news that this is about as good as it's going to get... according to the doctors. I got your box with those AWESOME knitted slippers! LOL, I love the last pair you sent me, I wear them often! Now I have another pair to enjoy! Good thing, the floors in this house have been COLD lately! And all those seeds and the handmade seed envelopes! LOL and the yummy Hersey's Kisses! And sweetie, your note continued the tears that Alana's card started! Dan!! That card was so wonderful! LOL, good thing I saw the instructions or I would have cut it up! And those precious pillows that you made for me!! OMG! I was just stunned that you'd made them! I have them in my favorite chair right now! They are perfect and give me some springtime inside! And the book on Mozart! He is one of my favorite composers! I cannot wait to read through it! And all the YUMMY candy!!!! That box is a cold, dreary day just waiting to be taken advantage of! I have really had a difficult time adjusting my thinking. The first part was a particularly bitter pill to swallow- that there is nothing else they can do. That this is as good as it's going to get. Then I remembered something I'd forgotten... 25 years ago they told me that was as good as it would get- I could either have a surgery which, at that time, would put me immediately back into the wheelchair I'd just clawed my way out of... or have 3-5 pain filled years to walk before I returned to that chair. I have spent the last 25 years doing the 'impossible'. I walked on my own two feet. And I am STILL doing that. I carried the weight of pregnancy with five children. I gardened and I cleaned and I cooked- all with my own two legs. Still can't play basketball... still can't run two miles each day as I'd love to be able to do... but.. I remembered all of those things they kept telling me I couldn't do. That I wouldn't do. That could not be returned to me medically. I remembered that the Lady and Lord continued to Bless me, continued to give me the use of my legs. That I had literally spent 25 years defying what doctors told me I would not have. And I remembered who I am. I'm still very limited. At the moment. I still can't bend... but I have pots the boys will lift to a table for me and two to-die-for raised beds that my gorgeous husband and my children and my in laws built me last spring- a LOT of love went into those beds along with the cinder blocks, dirt, compost, etc. I will find a way to sit on the edges and reach in enough to tend my plants. I have children who do their chores and keep my house for me. I have a husband who has become one heck of a cook to help me in the kitchen. I have a family who loves me and who believes as I've taught them (the children at least) to believe- we are the only ones who can limit ourselves. And I have my friends. Both in RL and on here. Friends that have cared enough to band together to make me laugh and cry and smile and remember that even in the depths of winter, all is not lost.. it's just life slumbering, waiting to re-awaken to it's glory. You are all such an AWESOME Blessing. Thank you, not just for the boxes and cards- but for being the loving, caring people that you are... and for being my friends.

Maybe someone got BINGO today, but I still need one more! Are we all waiting for the same one to be picked? We've been getting rain lately and my plants love it! I see some spaghetti squash forming on those plants. I have them growing in tomato cages because I don't have much ground space for them to wander ... although they are certainly trying to do that. I may have to place slings under the squash as it grows larger. :-) May went by in the blink of an eye! Jeanne

Correcting unwanted behavior is done much easier by preventing the behavior before it starts. That also allows more opportunity for positive reinforcement techniques. There are several ways to prevent behavior. Correction before the behavior starts is the goal. The requires close awareness of the dogs body language and actions. The largest block to preventing unwanted behavior---especially when other methods have failed---is how the handler/owner s emotions are during the training. The human has to mask any fear/anticipation/etc. behavior. Simply because the dog has become attuned to such cues and associated those cues as signals as how the dog should behave. You need to start correcting the lab mix when people arrive in the driveway. Your(whomever is handling the dog) needs to adopt the attitude the dog has to obey simply because you say so. That is usually much more difficult to do than to say. I use that technique and have sometimes blown a session simply because I was not paying attention and allowing other things to block my mind. And, it takes time. What to try. When you know someone is pulling into the yard---as the dog hears the visitor, start the corrections that signal his excitement before the visitor gets to the door. A training session with another person acting as the 'visitor' would be great. Because you can make the corrections and allow some time for the behavior to settle---allowing positive reinforcement to happen. That is a double training effort---blocking unwanted and praising acceptable behavior.

What a blast from the past. Thank you! I'm a bit too young to remember a lot of the '50s, but the '60s one was...wait...wasn't it just a "couple" of years ago? Sometimes it seems like it! And it was a great time to be a kid. I do remember being really mad at my parents because they wouldn't let me go to Woodstock. Um, I was 12 years old...talk about innocent babes in the woods :-)

Hi, My name is Sandi and I'm new to scrapbooking. I'm 38 years old, married with 4 sons, ages 16, 13, 6, and 4. I am also a nurse. I am doing a book for each one of my sons. I started with the oldest, and hopefully I will get it done in time for his high shool graduation--next year. I just love this site. I too, check it every day.

I just discovered this message board a couple of minutes ago. My name is Leslie and I live in Utah. I have been scrapbooking for about 4 years now (very basic scrapbooking) and have started doing the funner, more creative, also more archivally safe scrapbooking for over a year. I am trying to catch up on our family album, do my 2 year old son's album and hopefully one day scrapbook our growing up pictures (of my husband and I). I absolutely love it! I just wish I had tons of money to get all the great supplies. Though fortunately I have a very supportive husband so I do have good supplies - I just want even more, lol! Anyway, I hope to have fun and learn a lot on this message board!

Hi, my name is Pat and I live in Nanaimo, BC. We've been married 35 years this Feb, we have a married daughter in Vancouver and a son living Winnipeg, he is getting married this summer, we also have a very lovable large dog called Kilo. I'm working on my first scrap book, its about a vacation we took in Sept. I really enjoy it but find the journaling the most time consuming. I plan to do more from all the photos that are presently sitting in boxes, this will take me well past retirment. I found I had to buy quite alot to get started but think I have all the basics now so let the games begin anew!

Hi everyone! My name is Rebecca and I live just south of Atlanta, GA. I have been scrapbooking for about 4 or 5 years and reading this board for almost a year. I am married to a very supportive hubby and have two older kids (f/22 and m/18). They all give me a hard time about scrapbooking but they love the books. I have probably completed about 15 books with all different themes (sort of like our life) but no where near the end of pictures to do! I enjoy reading and commenting on this site so we need to all try to post as often as possible! I hope y'all have a safe holiday season and everyone is able to stay warm!

Hi, my name is Penny, I am 42, but some days feel 80. LOL I live in a TINY town in TN. and have been scrapping since the death of my 20 year old son Adam, from a car accident. It was in trying to preserve his memory and photos that I became invloved in scrapping almost 2 years ago. I still miss him hourly! I have a 24 year old daughter who works for Blue Cross and attends college at night, four months after the death of my son, her husband died from an illness, so we as a family are still trying to recover and grieve. If it were not for scrapping I would have been in a mental ward by now, or worse. I am definitely a supply addict, and love the craft. I work a LOT of hours on a printing press, so there are sometimes full weeks that I cannot respond to emails, but don't give up on me I promise I will eventually get back to you! I forgot to tell everyone when I am from. I live in Michigan--in the thumb. We are getting lots of snow.
Penny,my heart goes out to you. I too am also grieving. My nephew committed sucicide at the age of 15. And now his brother was in a serious auto accident. He was in a coma for 4 months, unable to walk, and now in a re-hab center.
Scrapbooking keeps me sane. Nice meeting everyone. Happy Holidays,and keep a smile on your face.

Hi! I live in central Texas, out in the country, and am a homeschooling SAHM with 6 children: 17(b),16(g),8(b),6(b), 3(g), and 8mo.(g). My 16y.o. daughter also scraps, and 8y.o. son has just started an album. I've been scrapping for about a year, have done 2 albums and am working on 2 more simultaneously. I have to find time in bits & pieces, since we're more than a little busy(and crowded,LOL!) Scrapbooking has really spurred me to "chronicle" our family, and take those pictures (everyday stuff, as well as events). As some others have commented, I get some teasing from the children, but they sure love looking at the results! My sis and I are planning on doing a heritage album for my mom's old family pictures, then another for my dad (if we can ever get together to sort out everything). I found this site about 3 or 4 months ago, and really enjoy the ideas, as well as connecting with other scrappers. 8-)

Hello all, I haven't been around for awhile, probably because I haven't been scrapbooking for awhile (no time).

My name is Kelly, I'm a stay at home mom of 3 darling kids, 2 boys aged 7 and 5 and a girl age 3. I am also homeschooling. I live in Canada.

I have been scrapping for 3 years now, but you wouldn't know it to look at my completed albums (or lack of). So far I've done an 8x10 gift album for my mom's second wedding, my dd's first year album, my ds#2 album (first 5 years) and have my wedding album all ready to go; just waiting for the inspiration to hit me, and also an album on my student exchange to Australia 14 years ago. I am currently working on an album for my dh. It was supposed to be done for Xmas, but it wasn't, so I gave it to him anyway (1/2 done) and he really liked it. Now that he knows about it and I don't have to work on it in secret I have a better chance of getting around to do it.

Hi! My name is Jane and I live in Tamworth, Australia (Tamworth is halfway between Sydney and Brisbane). I'm Mum to two DD's (14 and 10) and DH and I are both teachers. I've been scrapping for about 8 months and have finished an album for Aunt's 50th Wedding and I'm currently redoing (safely) eldest DH's baby book. I'm also compiling an album of my father's tennis achievements - photos and newspaper articles. I've been at this site since Day 1 and I love it. Recently a scrapbooking store (they're still rare in Australia) opened in Tamworth! I enjoy reading all your info so keep up the great work! I envy all the stores to which you have access, though!

Hi y'all. I found this site last Saturday. This is my first time on the scrapbooking site. My name is Carolyn, I live in Clinton, SC. Married for 33 years to the same man,we have a married daughter who will be 30 in May and a spoiled cat named Abigail (Abbi). I made my first scrapbook this past summer/fall for my husband's retirement from Bellsouth.It chronicles his life from about age 3 to current age 53. He really liked it. Next project is to do one for our daughter, then for me. It's a lot of work, but it's very rewarding to know that I'm finally getting the thousands of photos in some kind of order.

Hello! My name is Hilary and I've been coming to this site for about a year. I'm a SAHM with 3 boys (10, 7, & 5) and have been married to my DH for 12 years. I live in Tampa Bay, Florida (we moved here 2 years ago from Marietta, GA). I've been scrapping for 4-5 years but nowhere near the end of my pictures - between current and past, I'll be scrapping for years! My DH gave me a xyron 1200 for my birthday so I'm having fun with my new toy. The hardest part is finding the time for scrapping.

Hi...I live in a tiny town in Oklahoma called Lamont....I have visited this site lots, but don't post often...been scrapping almost 2 years and have got lots of albums done and have lots started...enjoy doing it...I have 4 children and 2 are married, 1 boy lives close by and my last boy is in high school...been married 26 years..and live in the country...

Hi, My name's Tammy and I'm a scrapbook addict. LOL I've been scrapping for about 4 years but only the last 2 seriously. I've been married for almost 8 years and we have 2 wonderful boys. Tyler's 7 and Jonathan's going to be 5. We live in a small town in Pennsylvania. I work full-time as a surgical technologist at the local hospital. Hello, My name is Jenny, I am a junior at the University of Iowa and i have been scrapping for about 6 months. I started because i wanted to do an album for my brother as his gift from me for his high school graduation. That is my current project, but i plan to do many more when this one is finished. I had no idea it would become this addictive (instead of clothes, i spend my mall gift certificates on stickers and scrapping supplies). Don't worry though, i still buy my fair share of new clothes too. =) I love this message board and try to visit atleast once a day, everyone seems so helpful and encouraging. Have a Great Day!

Hi, all! My name is Sarah and I'm from Ohio. I just turned 29 and have been married for 8 fantastic years. My husband is a firefighter and we have three beautiful girls (3-years, 16-months, and 1 month.) We bought a new house this summer so my scrapbooking stuff got packed away. Since I was due Christmas Eve with my third baby I focused on fall craft shows and Christmas gifts so I left my scrapbooking stuff packed up. Now that I've had my baby and Christmas and the craft shows are over I am ready to get back to scrapbooking. It's been about a year since I started and love it. I'm anxious to get started again. I love this site. Happy scrappin'!
