Please guide me !!! Special sb needed for sick girl

I just found this forum for scrapbooking and I need you expertise. My friend's little girl, Kimmie has had a relapse with a cancer called neuroblastoma. She is 8 years old and is undergoing treatment in New York. She is going thru chemo, radiation, and will soon go thru a bone marrow transplant. My children and hers are very close; they even say they are family. We wanted to do something as reminder of us and all our times together and give her hope and encouragement of times to come. This is where I got the idea of a sb. This is a much bigger job than I realized as I am trying to learn its abc's. Here are my questions that I do not fully understand what to do!!! Ok I have lots of 4x6 photos gathered. I keep reading about "focal points" Do I enlarger some of the photos with a scanner on photo paper and mix them with the regular photos? Does it look funny to have copies with regular processed photos? Also I got a 8 1/2 x 11 album. Would it have been better to add more creative stuff with the larger size? And...I am trying to bring some humor into the book with this idea. The guy from Crocodile Hunter,Steve, is admired by all the kids and me. I wanted to get a pic of him off the internet and replace his head with the head of one of my kids saying Danger Danger Danger! The animal have escaped from the zoo! Help me find them! Then throughout the sb there would be animals that reflect their personality with their face in place of the animals. At the end of the book they would all be back in the zoo wishing her back to good health. This is goofy I realize but I hope she will think it is funny. Would you copy the photos for the heads or photo paper or regular acid free paper? Do I need special small scissors? I have seen some ideas on 2 page layouts that when you open the book they go together. I do not think I will have alot of pages that will work like that. Should I coordinate colors of pages that are open at the same time even though the pictures are unrelated. Also I have had my materials for weeks. I need courage to do the first page, cut, design, ets. There is no major chronilogical order to my pictures. How do you make a plan for some kind of order to your book? Help!!! This scrapbook is important for us to let Kimmie know how much we love her. Any advice on sb, scanners, your 1st book is needed and appreciated. Thank you and please say a prayer. Barbara
