Blue Pearl Granite & Black and Gray Glass tile back splash too mu
Comments (25)oh mayflowers forgot to say that I like the idea of adding cabinets to back of peninsula area but was also thinking of having two backless bar stools with black leather seats there as well. Will have to think about the wainscoating and now that I look closely the area could use an update and it is scuffed up. the more we look the more we see that needs help with this house Ugh thanks so much Here is the living room, my carpenter is fashioning a pine wood free floating mantle as we speak, it will have oil on it and natural tones. We have sofa facing the fireplace that's a thin cordoroy material in a light blue/green and plan to have an accent chair against the other wall (the staircase wall) with perhaps some type of server or china cabinet over there, dining area is too small for china cabinet but might be able to have a behind the sofa credenza (for more storage) we also plan to have an area rug in front of the sofa. I am looking for a gray one with texture if I can find one. what do you think of those ideas? Right now the dining area has a work table we're using till we find what we want lol...See MoreBlue pearl counters in need of a backsplash.
Comments (49)Annalynn - I love tile like that ... and I think you have cherry cabinets so I'm sure the white looks beautiful. My mom is also looking for a backsplash and she likes the patterns like that if you don't mind sharing the manufacturer. She probably needs a cream color. I'm using a kitchen place that plans everything up front so the actual project is completed in 2.5-3 weeks. So, unfortunately I have to decide everything now. I've seen lots of different options online so I have an idea, but I know it all looks different in your house. I love glass so much more than ceramic (especially with the blue pearl), so I really want to go in that direction. Karen - I'll include the link with the colors again. I have samples at home of the slate gray (too dark), rain cloud (very pretty, but I think I want a little more color), soft blue (a little too pastel for me), soft gray (too close to white), and blue-gray. I really like the color of the blue-gray, but I'm worried it's a little on the dark side. I'm lucky in that my kitchen gets a ton of natural light so with the light cabinets, I feel like it's okay to go a little darker on the backsplash. My current kitchen has a drab beige backsplash and I'd prefer something a little more interesting. I'm at the point where it's the only thing hanging me up and they won't put me on the schedule until I pick something, so I guess it's decision time. Annalynn - is yours installed yet? It would be awesome to see a picture! Comments (14)I like the idea of a basic white something, but not marble. I know, I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like marble. But something in a soft white with a slight color varation -- that's a good possibility. Lovely kitchen though. Very much like the layout I'll have. Yeah, no surprise that it's a "premium granite". However, I'm not splurging on a whole lot of things, so I can have this; and I do want a "good piece". I've read in several places that this is something you want to go pick for yourself because all slabs aren't equal. Cool that it's the same stuff as security holograms. Nice conversation item. My kitchen'll be small . . . but will have a fairly large amount of natural light. I do agree that light is going to be the best choice. Love the suggestion to go with a nice cut edge. I wouldn't have considered that the inclusions would be spectacular in that situation....See MoreBacksplash for Sea Pearl Quartzite - Help!!
Comments (19)lmgch - I remember your kitchen; so beautiful! Your backsplash is lovely. I recall it's from Porcelanosa, correct? I considered getting a sample when you posted your reveal, but we have no Porcelanosa dealers in my state. I do like that there is a pattern in yours; it adds a nice touch. herbflavor - I understand what you're saying. Agree that we need something that pulls it all together. My concern about mosaics is that they are trendy (of course, the same could be said about white subways with gray grout). eam44 - I loved the Fireclay Hydrangea immediately. My search actually began with glass and glass mosaics. The Sea Pearl evokes feelings of coastal, so I thought glass might work. I almost went with the green glass mosaic below, then thought glass in general would be too trendy. I want something unique (I know...subways are not!) that is neutral enough to not steal the show from the Sea Pearl. I had ruled these out (marble - too bathroomy?, glass - too trendy?)...maybe I should revisit. So unsure!!...See MorePeke
