Civil War Era ...suggestion for sources

Hi All,

I am in the midst of making a Civil War Era ball gown. Have the various patterns (gown, underclothing), just looking for a good source for the gown fabric. I have looked at the various retailers, and even though I know I need to keep the fabric as close to that time period, I haven't found just the right cloth to suit me. It will be a small investment by the time I buy everything I will need, but just wondering this...does anyone have an off-track source or idea of where I could get a suitable fabric? I want to keep it as low-cost as possible, but have an appropriate garment. This gown takes only 30 yards of material! Any ideas or comments greatly appreciated! Has anyone else tackled a "biggie" like this? I'm also planning on making my husband a Confederate soldiers' uniform as well. (We live near Gettysburg, PA and want to have photos done for Xmas cards this year.)

Thanks everyone.
