Vernonia, (Disclaimer here, this is based on my personal observations only!) Believe it or not, I would have to break it down by married vs. single for the most debt. Married women (or recently separated women) carry more revolving debt than single women. Single men carry more revolving debt than married men. Overall, if I had to break it down, sorry to say, the ladies have the worse track record for having credit card debt. That said, the ones I am really worried about are the folks that are cashing out the equity in their homes to payoff credit card debt, then do not destroy their credit cards....and rack them back up again. Bankruptcy laws are being changed, and it won't be long before these folks won't be able to walk away from their debt and will be forced into a restructure of debt. In this case, rightfully so. It's the families with the medical catastrophe that will never be able to recover, which is sad. (sorry, leaving soapbox now). Suz

Henrik was due to visit last christmas, but with family coming, and my husband having passed a little over a year before, re-thought the idea, and needed to consider my children. He called and I relayed this back to him, and he wasn't too happy. He said he was really looking forward to visiting, didn't expect me to pay for the ticket, and doing any work would only be me requiring to pay for what was needed. I let him know I didn't think my family would be comfortable with his being here, to which he became annoyed and left me pi**ed off. We haven't spoken since, whereas he was calling almost monthly. I still think of him and what might have been a friendship or maybe more. Please tell me I need to 'GET OVER IT'(said by Cher in one of her movies). Would love a dinner, movie, etc., with a male other than my son! Dating sites? Don't want an older man, and that's what the choices would be for someone my age. Am I doomed to be alone the rest of my life? I'm a very young 71 year old! Single cruises anyone? I would love to take a river cruise to Europe !

Hmmm, so I fuss over "girl" AND "guy" stuff. When it came time to have our electrical box upgraded from the old 100 amp service to the 200 amp service...I was the one asking the questions to the electrician. When our electrician was here this weekend to replace an old light switch that sizzled and fried (littlerally...black smoke coming out and everything!), I was right there, asking him about it. And I LOVE that he explained it to me as a human and not as "okay, little lady, here's what's up with it." When we were getting ready to build a house a few years ago...it was me that fussed over the dual zone heating. And me that fussed over the geothermal heat pump. And me that was asking about the relative advantages and disadvantages of Superior Walls vs. standard foundations. My husband came along for the ride on most of that. In our house, in many cases, I do the research (be it "male" or "female" based. Narrow down the choices to what I find acceptable. Present findings to DH and then we work on finding a decision. But, me, heck yeah, I'm going to be SO excited (seriously!) when it comes time for us to have the HVAC people in to replace our old furnace. But, I'm a little odd like that.

Good news for women. Scientists aren't sure exactly why this is, but they believe it has something to do with the x chromosome. Apparently it contains genes linked to immune function, which means the disease is often not as severe as in men.
