Recommend a warm grey paint for home office (window, but no sun)
Comments (11)I've been in a gray paint color search for a long time and I have as many samples as beekeepers wife! I've just about decided to go with Cumulus Cloud by Benjamin Moore, but all the colors on that chip are nice, including La Paloma Gray and River Reflections. The only picture I could find was someone who used all three on her walls. The main wall color is River Reflections, the medium gray accent is La Paloma, and the lightest color is Cumulus Cloud. Thunder, also from BM, is also a nice warm gray. Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreWarm creamy exterior paint colour recommendation?
Comments (16)Wow! This takes me back! We have a warm yellowy cream stone and the same siding as you. I made a giant mistake and had the whole board and batten and other siding painted Gray Owl. It looked horrible. I then asked the painter to use a color I cannot remember and he only did one coat and that was the end of it. Also only in the front, which was fine by me as that was really all it needed. Now all I see is GRAY! Someday I will need to remedy this. However, we still have so much to do on our new build that is still not finished. Either way I hope you find a color you love! Sometimes you just have to buy sample paints and a lot of them to figure out what you really want. Put them on every wall and look at the from every angle on any time of the day. That includes sunny and cloudy days. I know from experience how hard and frustrating this all can be! Here you can see how gray the siding looks. Which is fine. However the front is what really matters. Of course, I haven't a pic of it. I would trade you my gray for your yellow! ;)...See MoreWhich warm gray exterior color do you think looks best? (pics)
Comments (17)Thank you to everyone for your input! It was a tough decision, but BM Rockport Gray won out in the end and we're very happy with it. Any of these colors would've looked great (no "perfect" color, in my opinion) and it was helpful to think about the overall look we wanted. This website is so useful to me, so just wanted to pay it forward with some pointers that may help anyone considering painting their exterior these colors: 1. Rockport Gray is a really pretty "warm" gray. In direct sunlight it looks almost beige-khaki, and in the shade or indirect light is where you see more gray. 2. RG does not clash with our reddish-brown roof! 3. I was surprised how much lighter the color came out to be. We might have been ok going a little darker, but in any case I'm still happy with it. Our original exterior color was so light, so I think that testing RG on top of it made RG seem much darker than it turned out to be. 4. It was really helpful to narrow down all 20 of our "warm gray/ greige" paints to just 3 or 4 samples. The paint chips are great suggestions to point you in the right direction, but after a while they start to look the same and you really don't know until you test it directly where it's going! 5. Our house is east-facing and the roof is multi-gabled, so we needed a color that would work with all sorts of (mostly direct) sunlight angles & roof appearances. We tested various paints in many spots and noticed right away with all paint colors that there's no one "true" shade that came through. Every test area looked different. Another reason why I think we had no "perfect" color! 6. Our trim color is Benjamin Moore White Dove. We wanted something softer/creamier but I think BM Simply White would've looked crisp and really nice as well with Rockport Gray. 7. We're also painting our doors a soft black! One of the reasons we went with RG is because we thought it was the best color to go with black doors, so it was helpful to think about the overall look (siding with trim with doors). Best of luck to you all for your paint decisions! Note: Left side hasn't gotten its 2nd coat yet, but the side straight ahead with window is final....See MoreWarm white paint color recommendations
Comments (5)Thank you for these suggestions. Cmm, I was looking at Greek Villa but I'm in a northern climate and need a bit more color for it to look right in my lighting. Creamy is also too light for me, but if you want slightly warmer than Greek Villa, I recommend Creamy. Aktillery... that is so lovely. That's almost the look I'm going for, but would like just a bit more definition between walls and woodwork. I think that would have it in person, though. Thanks for the article, Outsideplaying. I'm using SW Pure White from that article as my trim paint. It's really just a nice, neutral white. Tina Marie, actually, Alabaster is popular as a trim around here, according to my painter. I got a sample of it, and it's very pretty color. But it won't work for the trim (just a tiny bit too dark), or the walls (too light). I'm going to use it for my closet, I believe, because it really is just a nice off-white. Right now, I'm looking at SW Natural Choice. In my light, it is light and warm but may have the slightest hint of green undertone. It works with my cabinets, though. My painter had to delay his start until tomorrow, so I've got another 24 hours to be indecisive....See Morettodd
