shower curtain liner advice, please
Comments (11)Thanks, my dreamhome! We do get those pink stains on the plastic liners so I'll watch for them on the cloth one. We bought a suspension rod to help us figure out at what height we want to hang the curved rod. I'll keep your comment about length of liner in mind as we figure that out and make sure I have enough inches to spare. I searched in this forum for answers before posting, assuming this was the right place to ask my question. After I posted, I did a Google search and learned that I could have found my answers with a search in the Cleaning Tips forum. I think I'll stick with the cloth liner for our 2nd bath but I'm going to try the tips for machine washing plastic liners for my oldest son's icky plastic shower liner that he brought home from college. Fingers crossed. Thanks, again!...See MoreNeed advice re shower curtain rod -- type, placement, source, et
Comments (11)Bear in mind that online reviews usually number a handful, so it's hard to determine quality based on reviews. Faucetdirect.com has lots of rods. Brass rods are the most expensive. I bought stainless steel. The Kohler rods would have been my first choice, but my shower is 58", and theirs and many others start at 60". I had to buy Moen and it does look nice. We have good ventilation so I don't think rust will be a problem. Location: Once you have the rod and shower curtain, you'll figure it out pretty quickly. Most shower curtains are 70-72" long. Leaking: Curved rods won't prevent it. I bought a shower curtain liner at BB&B that has suction cups along the sides. Shower curtains: JC Penney, Macy's, Kohl's, BB&B, Pottery Barn, Croscill.com, Overstock.com, etc. I've looked at hundreds and haven't found what I'm looking for. Most look pretty chintzy imo....See Moreattn: peope that sew...more advice needed!
Comments (8)I made my bedroom drapes out of a twin duvet. I found a duvet from PB clearance that I loved and originally bought the twin duvet to make matching shams b/c PB had sold out of the shams. But I found the euro shams on Ebay, so I used the twin duvet to make drapes. I had to hang them on clip rings b/c they were too short to use otherwise. You should be fine with the king size though. You may even have enough fabric to make some shams or throw pillows. I used a seam ripper to remove the surged stiching and hemmed the unfinished edges. Because I was trying to make the drapes as long as possible, I didn't even remove the area with the button holes. You can't even see them unless you know they are there and you look very closely. If it were in my living room, I wouldn't have done that, but no one except me (and you all) would ever know. (When I paint, I'm going to move the rods down just a little so the drapes skim the floor.) Here are some pics:...See MoreNeed your advice on Shower Curtain !!
Comments (12)oldgardener, the only fixture in my shower is a hand-held, which usually stays in its fixed holder. I do occasionally use it as a hand-held without issue with the curtain. I suppose if you aimed water directly at the curtain for an extended period it would seep through. I don't know why anyone would do that. I've used this curtain every day without concern about water escaping the shower. I've never had water end up outside the shower/tub enclosure. It's wide enough and tall enough. BTW, I have a curved shower rod, if that matters. I have a window on my shower wall, and even with the curtain shut, lots of light gets into my bathroom. For the price, it's a no-brainer....See Moremclarke
