How do you color in a stencil, such as a border buddy, to get even smooth design. I have cmmarkers, gel pens and zig pens but when I try to color in the stencil the design doesn't shade in smooth and even.

I have this problem too. I sometimes go ahead and cut a piece of colored card stock in the shape of the border buddy design instead of trying to color in the design. Penny Anybody else have any hints here?

I'm also having the same problem with the Journaling Genies. I use Zig pens and I notice that the pastel colors especially do not shade smoothly and evenly.

I would turn the frame on its back and paint a small section. Then stencil that section and see how long it takes to dry. I have never applied RNB over oil paint. I have done it on metal and it performs completely different with metal than with most other surfaces I have tried. Metal is the smoothest surface I have tried it on. I tried it with a metal faucet. It did not work at all. I also tried it with a metal table and it worked but it took about 24 hours to dry.

I would not consider 49" for a singe sink vanity small. It is a comfy space. Nothing is going to make the bathroom feel spacious though. If Leopard spots go with your decor, go ahead. I like the idea of having a pattern of some kind on the wall to indicate that you are entering a space that is different than the bedroom. With the vanity outside in the hall, this is important to me. I would decorate this space to match the bathroom, but so that it also coordinates with the bedroom. I am certain that others who come along are going to want to see photos. So get some pictures of the bedroom and bathroom and add them here in the comments and you will get a lot more responses.

Laundry room update with tile stenciling

Are you planning to move the washer and dryer out while you paint? I just painted my laundry room and kitchen with rustoleum and found it really needed an extended drying period after the clear coat. Anticipate that. I did a test coat in the tiny laundry room first and gave it 24 hours, but that was insufficient I redid everything just before we left out of town on the Thursday before President’s Day returning late Monday and that was solid. The Rustoleum product was hard to get — I had to order it and the hardware store struggled to match the black they mixed the time before. All that said, I like it a lot better than what was there and I didn’t add waste to the local landfill. Were I to have had the tile removed, the contractor claimed he’d have to replace the subfloor (old house) and I was not in the mood for that.

I'm new here and new to scrapbooking. I recently heard of colored pencils that can be used in scrapbooks. The can be found in the scrapbook sections of crafts stores. That way you can control the tint of the color. Just an idea.

Hi I'm kinda of new here. (first time I've posted anything but I've been lurking for awhile) I've used colored pencils like Shelly had suggested. I went to them after I had the same problems we were talking about with the markers and such. The kind I have are made by EK success. I don't know if just regular colored pencils would work or not. Try tracing with pencil first, then color in. Chatterbox also makes a pen with disappearing ink for use with templates etc. Check it out!
