I would use TWO handles on the wide drawers - one on each end. I do think you need the same handle everywhere though.

I thought of that, but then I realized I'm more likely to just use one hand to open even the wide drawers. If I have two handles, then I'll be pulling it open off-center every time. Wouldn't that cause unnecessary strain on the glides and potentially throw everything off-kilter?

We used 10" pulls on our 36" drawers, 8" pulls on our 30" drawers, and 6" pulls on the 24" and smaller drawers. I'm a one-handed puller since I always seems to have one hand with raw chicken juice or something equally awful all over it when I realize I need something else from a drawer. I'm very happy with the way it looks even though our KD recommended using all the same size pulls but to use 2 on every drawer that was 30" or larger. Sorry I can't post a picture since I haven't added that computer skill to my repertoire yet. I think you should go with your knowledge of how you use a kitchen and the pulls will look fine and proportional if you use different sizes.

i also used different size pulls. i have cup pulls and did use two on our 36 inch drawers. but i have a bank of 24 inch drawers and i thought my 4 inch cup pull looked a little too small and two cup pulls was too crowded. i ended up getting a 6 inch pull for those drawers.

i don't think there is a wrong answer.....rather just stick to what you want.

Okay, I just didn't want it to look funny. I love the look of the different sized contemporary pulls on very modern cabinets, but I didn't know how it would look with more traditional pulls/cabinets. Thanks!

I'm struggling with the same thing....though my pull for my 30", 33", and 36" will be only 5 3/8". I couldn't find a bigger one that matched with the other hardware...which will be knobs on doors (except trash pullout)and cup pulls on drawers 24" and smaller.

I'm going with transitional look, think clean lined coastal cottage and your right, your choices in pull lengths is not as abundant as the modern lines. I tried looking at appliance pulls, but they are expensive and they stick out farther than standard pull.

I definitely think if you are sticking with one handle (my preference)you should change the pull length to fit your drawer width.

I have two pulls on the wider drawers. I also like using one hand to open drawers and and I have no problem opening them using just one of the pulls. Having said that, I think different size pulls would be fine.

I used longer pulls on my wider drawers, but no pull was more than 5 inches. My glides are silky smooth so I was not worried about gaining sturdiness from an extra-long pull.

I don't like 2 pulls on a kitchen drawer-- if the glides are smooth, there is no need for it functionally, and it's not drawer-friendly to grab one pull at a time.

I like to mount the pull toward the top of the drawer, not centered top to bottom. I mounted my pulls on the top rail of my shaker fronts-- not in the center. Again, ergonomics was my priority.

Your pull/knob scheme sounds great to me.

In part of my kitchen, I used 6" pulls on every drawer, regardless of size. Around my rangetop area, though, I used different size pulls, putting a longer one on the 36" drawer unit under the rangetop and shorter on the 16" drawers on either side. I don't think your KD's idea or yours either one or wrong, but it's your kitchen and have what you'll like. I'm betting no one else will notice, either way, but you will...and you're the one who counts!

This is one of those questions to which there is no wrong answer. In other words, all of the above will work. You can use larger pulls on larger drawers. You can use 3" pulls on all drawers. You can use one or two pulls no matter what the size.

With today's slides, there's no reason to use larger pulls or two pulls as far as the functionality goes. So that means you get to choose based on looks. My advice is to look at pix of kitchens and see which look you like best. Then tell your cabinet guy that's what you're doing, and he can do whatever he wants in his kitchen!

This is a personal preference. Like Cheri127, I went w/one pull size & 2 on wider drawers. But, I was unable to find my style in more than one length (4"). I happen to like the look of 2/drawer for the wider drawers (more of a furniture look, I think), but that's my preference.

Your preference appears to be one pull. If you have various lengths available, then go for it! Your cabinet designer needs to realize that it's your kitchen, not his/hers. Stand firm...get what you want!
