Jennifer here is one that I wrote for you, let me know if you don't like it and I will try and redo it.:
No one could see me the day that you were wed, but I was there when down the asile you where led.
I would have given anything where it I who held your hand, but you know for me God had other plans.
I should have been the one to give you away, to your new husband on your beautiful wedding day.
But I listened as you recited your of vows, there before the rest of your friends and family crowd
Don't think for a moment I wasn't there to hear them say; and who amoungst us gives this bride away
For although you never saw me, it was I who raised my hand, and gave up my position as your number one man
But don't think for a second I don't watch over you from my world, for now and always, you'll be Daddy's little girl.

Another idea: spell out Dad or Father or his name down the left hand side of the page...then for each letter write something special (starting with that letter)
i.e. F family & friends adored you
A always there when you need him
T taught me to do my best
H ...
you get the idea! good luck...

What a beautiful poem. I want to do a scrap book for my mom
for mothers day maybe you can do a poem for her.
She is in a nurseing home right now. She broke her leg in november she is hoping the doc. says she can go home soon. She will see him in April.
Her birthday is tomarrow and we are going to take her out for her birthday. She will be 83. Her mind is still real good. She still can write the bills out and thinks like that.
Hope that you can help.
Maybe that is what you need to do is write a book of poems.

When I was a little child, and could still sit upon your knee,
You told me fancy stories, of how special I would be,
I never doubted you second, or wondered how you could see,
All the great things that the world, held in store for me,
With just your words to guide me, through dangers great and small,
Some how I grew up, and can now stand proud and tall,
I may not be the greatest, nor hold a record for any feat,

You definately have a talent! I am still so very happy with the poem you wrote to help me do a page dedicated to my father in my wedding book. How do you find the time to do it with the hours that you work? What kind of work do you do. To me it sounds like that you may be in food service.

I work on a printing press, where we print boxes and I don't mean a small printing press either, the smallest paper we print is about 25 inches both ways and the largest is 52. The printing presses are about 50 feet long. We work 12 hour shifts for 4 days and then have the next 4 days off. So the days that I am working I am basically just able to work and I catch up on everything else on my off days. It usually doesn't take me that much time to write a poem, I think because I love music so and can relate to poetry in that fashion. I too love my family and can relate to many of the feelings about them that most scrappers are looking for. I am not very good at it and would be laughed out of most english classes I am afraid, but I am just glad to be of some help to you all. Penny

Penny--Your poems are so touching. I wonder if you have ever written a poem for a wonderful mother-in-law. My mother-in-law is headed for a nursing home and I would like to add a poem to her scrapbook page so she will be able to read it while her eyes are still good. You are a great help to those of us who can't write poetry. Thanks!

Penny, As I wrote in previous post, I am new to this site(forum). However all ready tonight I am getting to know most of you in here. Anyway, I loved your poems too. I enjoy writing them too, they're probably not as good as yours though. We've always done this in our family - too cheap to buy cards I guess :-). In fact, for about 6 years my younger sister always wrote Roses are red violets are blue...and then she would change the last two lines to suit the occasion. lol. Oh it may sound funny but she's 28 now and I miss those stupid silly little poems. Anyway I just wanted to share and ask you if you've ever contacted Hallmark? You could have a new career!

What a beautiful way with words. Wow. My dad also died before I married (when I was 19) and that poem you wrote for Jennifer made my cry. It was perfect. I'm going to print it off (if you don't mind) and, if I ever get around to doing my wedding album, I'd like to add it to mine as well.

My dad died a few years before my wedding as well and 15 minutes after reading your poem I am still crying. He was my best friend and i miss him dearly. When i married, i chose a church that had this triangle window high up almost in the rafters at the front of the church. No one could understand why i picked this particular church it was small and old, i finally the day of the wedding revealed to my closest family and friends that it was so my daddy could see me nice and clear. I too would love to use this poem in my wedding album. It takes a big heart for a person to share their words, talent and ability so freely. As you can tell everyone thanks u greatly? Do u have any anniversary poems....my mom in law is standing over my shoudler asking me if u do ...she has to come up with something to say at her parents 50th? :) Thanks again

Here is the 50th anniversary poem I wrote I thought some more of you would like to have a copy;
Many thought you'd never make it, to your first Anniversary day,
Now you've made it to 50, and they don't know what to say.
There were many who doubted, your love so pure and strong,
And they never suspected, your marriage would ever last this long,
I am sure there were many times, it would have been easier to walk away,
Run away at the first sign of troubles, forget your wedding day,
But your love for one another, held you together year after year,
Throughout all the heartaches, smiles and even tears.
So to all the doubters, you can now turn around and say,
I knew we'd be together, I told you on our wedding day.

Penny, Your poems are wonderful! My father was there to give me away on my wedding day, but just reading your poem brought tears to my eyes and reminded me of my grandfather who passed away two years ago. He and I did everything together and I always assumed he would do the things with my little girl that he did with me and I am so sad that she will never get to know him except through pictures. I have pictures of the gravesite and flowers although I can't bear to write about them in my scrapbook yet. He was the old cowboy who would give you the shirt off of his back and he was the most honest and morally strong person I have ever met. If you could find the time, do you think you could help me with what to say on his page as a tribute to him?

Here is one for a Grandfather:
When they saw him on the street, most went out of their way,
To just wish him good morning, along with a word to brighten his day.
He would always smile when he answered them, kindness was his way,
He helped many a neighbor, with thier problems or just by baling hay.
But to me he was so special, he even found time to come and play.
I can see him now so clearly, his face wrinkled from sun and age,
That's why I love his picture, included here upon this page.
I put it here for you to see, I have my own cherished in my mind,
But as for a better Grandfather, that you will never find.
