Please, I'd like advise on picture hanging systems

I'd like advise or reviews on picture hanging Systems such as Slim-Line or other types or brands. I am re-posting because the other post got no responses. It may have been passed over because of my wording in the title.

I am thinking of installing a Slim-Line system, or similar, in my kitchen to hang pictures. I have a wall that I think will work well for a product like this. The flexibility for hanging pictures is very appealing to me. Has anyone used any of these systems or know of anyone who has? If so what do you think of them?

I have not used this system but it looks great. It seems like a perfect system if you would like to rotate art without putting holes in the wall.

The only potential thing I can't work out is whether or not you can hang pictures offset from each other one below the other. All the multiples shown in the pictures are in vertical rows. I am not sure how one would stagger without the higher piece of art interfering with the cable for the lower piece, if you know what I mean.

Thanks for your input palimpsest. It looks like you can hang things below one another. large multiple montages on the wall would probably look odd with the cables in the background. Where I would use it would not require layering of pictures. It would offer a lot of flexibility switching things around though with out re-centering and pounding new holes in the wall. Overall the rail and cables might be too busy in my small space.

I have absolutely no experience in growing Sansevierias in pure turface. But I can suggest to you that it is best to err on the side of dryness in the winter, and they do like lots of indirect light in the winter time. Direct winter sun can be unnecessarily brutal. Keep water off the leaves and crown when you do water. NO DRAFTS! Next spring replant with a porous soil mix. I have been successful using peat and perlite with about a 60-40 ratio here in Tennessee. You have a beautiful young plant there! but it is weak; the white tissues are being fed by the green tissues. This plant would have a better chance of winter survival if it were still attached to the parent plant to help with food production. If you ever see a brown spot developing, it will spread and you will likely lose the leaf. It likes warmth; some like to use a heating pad for bottom warmth with a plant so young. The turface is going to absorb a lot of water which will make it unavailable to the roots. If you insist on using turface, try to find a clear pot so you can see what's happening to any water you might add. You want HUMIDITY, but not necessarily standing water if that makes sense. We don't know how dry your house is, or what the root system looks like on your plant, but I would be tempted to add 1/4 cup of water now and give it bottom warmth.

You'll need to consider the hanging plants on the north side. At that side, the sun will cause them to cast a shadow, but their shadow will not fall on other plants (unless you want something to be in the shade). An alternative I can think of is that, as your picture seems to show that you actually have a lot of space, even if you don't have the actual garden space this year, but you are willing to grow in pots, so you could just have an in-ground section and a pot/bucket section of your veggies. There are many gardeners who grow tomatoes and peppers and other plants in 3 or 5-gallon buckets. For some of your smaller vegetable plants, you can also consider things like plant towers, either commercial or home-made. That way, you get more plants in a smaller area but still use vertical space. I linked an example of such a commercially-available garden tower, but again, you can have a home-made one also. The Broan makeup air damper for kitchen ventilation was the first residential application on the market. I think they deserve some credit for offering this design while others were silent. I've read the easiest passive make up air approach is a run of tubing in the basement through the crawl space to the outside, with an appropriate critter cage attached. I've had to read the below Broan MUA spec sheet a couple of times or more. Newer models may be available. Looks like you best come up with a installation guide for the Ventahood you choose. It will address a lot of the questions you ask. So you're going to run the ventilation ducts up to your attic and then out exteriorly to a cap? Your HVAC contractor should definitely be in on that. Pupwhipped, Love it-what you said about Cleveland. I am going to cut that sucker down. Michoumonster, thanks for the fish vote but I probably wont go with that one. I think the size is right. It needs remounting. The print is a little stiff for me in this room I think, and I don't like all of the white background. I must be leaning towards more color. Sochi, I love those darned poppies, I've had it hung in that location for years in my UGLY old kitchen and didn't care one bit that it was large. Then, the white frame was ok because there was other white in the room. But now I agree that the frame is wrong. I don't know if the print would survive a reframing. Stacey, thanks for the tips and I will watch that Youtube video. I have been thinking I could even see if I could get a set of "paintings" out of the one. That might be too much. A simple single might be best with this print.

Cheaper and less intrusive: Picture-rail molding that uses metal hooks (some can be very decorative, like Victorian styling, which I believe is where the use of picture-rail molding started).

The molding itself can be wood and painted the same color as the wall, and the main thing is that the framed art hangs from the rail, so no nail-pounding and nail-hole-patching.

There's a lot of stuff about this method online, so it's easy to Google it and find photos.

(You could also do an accent wall with this--special color wall, different color wood rail.)

I think the difference between this technique and the website you linked to is that the latter seems more commercial contemporary-art-gallery with all the metal and would require a whole lotta component hardware pieces. And any handyman could put up a wood picture rail.

Thanks pammyfay, the benefit for me with the slim line system is that it is something like a 3/4" reveal and can be painted to match the background. I don't think the picture molding will work in my particular situation because of the crown molding on my cabinets would compete. The room is small and if I do something like a hanging system it would just be along the wall above the table area. I would love the option of changing pictures. It is a "nice to do" and not a "have to do" project. Something to keep me thinking.
