I like it best with the chair in the corner as well. That would be the same two pics that dd50 picked. I agree with you that the chair in the foyer looks goofy. ;) I also think your foyer is too narrow to really put anything in there except, perhaps, a mirror console hung on the wall itself.

Pretty chair--too bad it does not have a partner. I also like it in your LR, though think you can fine tune the location a bit more. I know the LR is a challenge to decorate with the entryways situated as they are, but my concern is that you have these two chairs now floating off in the corners which are really not close enough for conversation or in the right direction for TV watching. Is there anyway to either group them together or pull them in closer to the conversational group?

val - i'm all ears!!! i was sitting on the couch last night just staring at it trying to figure out how to bring it together better. i like each of the sections but that's just it...sections.

I could put the loveseat on the wall where the wingback is but ....dh and i usually sit on the loveseat and i like sitting in front of the TV. plus i'm not sure what the heck i would do with the round end table. The chairs could go where the loveseat is..but since they don't match i thought it would look stupid.

any suggestions are welcome!!! i thought i would love the two entrances but with the size of everything else in the room it's just not ideal.

Are you able to switch the loveseat and sofa? That would bring the sofa out from the wall and at more of a right angle to the loveseat. This will bring the main seating area closer together and more functional. Keep in mind that the sofa would not be against the wall and closer to the middle of the room. You could eventually find a nice table to go along the back of it for lamps and accessories. Your grandmother's buffet would probably work for that! :) I like it in the entry, but I'm a compulsive furniture rearranger. I like to change things up every 6 months or so.

If that isn't an option because of bad flow, bring the loveseat out from the wall toward the sofa. The front corners of those pieces should be closer together.

The spider chair looks nice in the corner by the entry. It also offers a place for you to sit and put on/take off your shoes. It just needs some artwork hanging by it.

Your tall plant can go into the living room corner to help disguise your thermostat. Then the standing lamp can go into the now vacant corner behind the furniture.

Perhaps Les will weigh in on your furniture arrangement.... She has some amazing ideas with very difficult spaces, which I acknowledge yours is one.

alex - oh bless your heart for trying to help me arrange this difficult area!!! i tried the floating thing before and there just didn't seem to be enough room. looked all jammed up. Didn't give two thoughts about the entrances when we built this house. Also didn't give two thoughts about the size of furniture we picked. You can see some different pics in the link I've attached.

If I switch the loveseat and sofa the sofa sticks pretty far out into the entrance.

les - any ideas since I added some more furniture? I really am done buying furniture now.

I know I have a couple different threads going on about this. Probably should've just waited to post until the day the buffet showed up.

Wow, that's a tough room! You really HAVE tried almost everything. I think the problem is the loveseat. It just doesn't fit well given the tv placement. If you had another room for it, I would just use the sofa and a couple of armchairs across from it for the seating area. Probably not an option, though.

I read someone else's idea about moving the entertainment cabinets to the opposite side, and I think that would make the biggest difference in your arrangement choices. The couch, loveseat and chair would have nice places to rest without jamming up the entrances. Such a big job and I'm sure your DH would just LOOOOOOVE it if you decided to do that!

alex - believe it or not we've tried moving the e.stand too! the crown moulding on the top makes it too big for the other two smaller walls (not the window one). Sticks out into the walkwalls a good three inches. The book ends are separate pieces. It was even talked about putting the two end pieces together on the small wall where the web chair now is and sticking the center on the wall where the loveseat is. DH was against this. :) I just HAD to have that stand. Found it on craigslist. While is has tons of storage it's just plain big.
We only have this room for a LR. There's no other den or sitting room. DH will eventually have his MAN room in the basement but that'll be alittle while. Point of story I need to keep the sofa and loveseat. We just bought it in Dec.
Sooo... my LR furniture placement probably won't be pretty until I get new stuff.

So now whatcha think about the web chair?
