Holiday gift for contractors and subs
Comments (13)I also vote for treats, but if you can't or to supplement, I'm working on a 2-for-1 gift this year that I'm planning to distribute liberally and might work for you. One of my kids' schools has a 'saver' card to buy with coupons for local businesses. I presume these are donated by the businesses to the school as a fundraiser. They offer an impressive array of local stores that you can potentially save quite a bit of money at if you shop there anyway. So my purchase of these and wide-spread "gifting" of them helps the school, and hopefully also the business that benefits from the additional business, presumably (else why would they participate) and my "giftee" if they were going to be shopping there anyway, as they'll save money. Guess that makes it a win-win-win gift, I hope? I'm hoping it's not seen as, dunno what the term would be, "fool's gold" perhaps? in the sense that you have to spend money to save it. I wouldn't give it without a card also and hopefully an additional gift like, say, cookies. I'm planning on enclosing them in the holiday cards (I've yet to write) for neighbors as well. ~maybe it would work for you?...See MoreGift ideas for holiday renters
Comments (11)Maddie, I think I did see that, unless they have a new season. Fun show! My recollection is that gifts were usually wine and food, especially local. I would leave a lobster or blueberries except I decided to stick with things that don't spoil! I keep them in a cabinet and our maid puts them out. A custom puzzle is a really great idea, but I think more $$$ and also time. I ordered the Malin ones and they will arrive tomorrow. That way everything will be stocked and I don't have to worry. Daisy, actually i do still leave some taffy, just not the big fancy box. I have these French lamps in 2 guest rooms that I just love, but they have proven hard to style. I always buy new washcloths for guests and this is how I style the lamp in the twin-bedded room. The lamp in the Q guest room had seashells and washcloths and soaps and Kind bars....See MoreA holiday gift when you don’t know the persons religion..
Comments (24)I would not give a food gift to someone who sells food - either you buy the food from him (and then are giving him something he already has) or you buy it from one of his competitors, and that might be offensive. If someone gave me a Starbucks gift card, I would regift it. If you live in a small village there might not even be a Starbucks where you live. In fact, I regift all gift cards that I receive. Personally, I think that cash is the best gift in this case, as it will be the most useful gift. You can put it in a very nice card and hand write a personal note to tell him how much you appreciate him. If I were the store owner, this would mean to most to me. I see this as somewhat like giving a tip, as you might to your pool maintenance person or house cleaner....See MoreHoliday gifts for builders - help!
Comments (2)I suggest you not think about gifts as some combination of holiday and home completion gifts. Focus on the construction of the home and an individual's contribution to it. At the risk of appearing as a Scrooge, I wouldn't gift anything to the company owner. I can't remember any of my clients giving gifts to any of my trades. What is worth more than any gift, in my opinion, is a personal note thanking those individuals (and you can include the builder if he/she did a great job) for the work they did to deliver your home and noting how their specific contribution was noteworthy (keeping everything on-time, in budget, maintaining a safe worksite, attention to detail, preventing mistakes, etc.)...See Moresnoonyb
