Thanks for sharing your duck story 13 years ago. We just moved into an apartment with a duck pond 50' from our back porch and it's got all different kinds of ducks and geese. The ducks are nicer and there are different ones, ratty ones, mean ones, wussy ones, skinny ones, fat ones...very often a new gang of teenie tiny ones under mom's feets. They're always fighin for territory or humpin each other. It is quite the backyard reality show. The geese are another story, there is this one that looks different than the rest and he's always causing trouble with the ducks. He's the alpha goose and he doesn't let anyone forget it for a minute. Somebody needs to mess his 6.75lb feathered butt up. Alpha goose pic included.

tj-a good start & Steve; I don't know why I wasn't even thinking of Genus. My mind was going straight from Family to species. We still haven't addressed var. abnormalis. Just joking about how I sign off though peeps. I love Theresa or Theresa Ann and prefer them. I only use Terri to prevent duplicity and Therri seems weird. So for the time being I am Homo sapiens var. "Abnormalis" Theresa. For our lurkers who may not be following my silliness (my abnormality) I simply am using 'me' to apply proper taxonomic rules that also apply to our hostas. I think this is right: Genus - Lilium Family - Hosta Species - (example) ventricosa: note small v - or - "hybrid or cultivar" - (example) 'Paradigm': note cap. Is this room on the north side of the house? If so, that is the logical answer as to why the color is tending towards a cooler spectrum. Also, if you are using CFL bulbs in the room it can do the same, as well as in low light as you describe. You can easily change this with incandescent or LED lighting. I also recommend using full spectrum paints, especially if you are painting your interior in one color.

such a small backsplash area: the bigger question is can you/would you look at getting a better counter and floor. You have not so ordinary cabinets....they could be "played up" with counter and floor. It's not a huge space so even an exotic hardwood floor won't break the bank and it would do a lot. Or maybe vibrant linoleum squares if you don't want hardwood. If no other changes..I guess a putty or cream color tile backsplash because of the floor.....your existing counter has some of that marbled through. but I vote for considering other changes.
