Are you able to post a photo of the window? Being able to see it will allow people to give better suggestions.

My sister's home has a short window over her bed, but it's wide. Her upholstered headboard rises up to the bottom of the window, and she has floor length panels on either side of that window to match the double hung sash window treatment on another wall.

If you didn't need to cover it for darkness, I would leave it uncovered. However for the sake of sleep :-) I think a blind of some kind is your best bet.

I would do the same for each window--panels floor to ceiling. It will give the room better visual flow as opposed to different types/lengths.

Curtains from top to ceiling? I don't think we want to do that. Curtain should start just a few inches over the main window.

Also, our bed will go against that wall with the window. So a curtain there would hang behind the bed.

I would probably put roller blinds on all the windows...either moulding mount or inside mount. If you put drapes/curtains on your two larger windows, I would put short drapes/curtains on the shorter window also....Both windows should match. I can see grey sheers on your windows, along with the white roller shades.... IMHO

e once had a small square, oddly placed high window that looked quite good with the top-and-bottom shirred curtain I made for it. Tension rods and curtain went inside the frame. I'm wondering if you could use something like this, or decorative film on the glass, or ? to integrate the bed, headboad and window into one composition?

I think what Joanie was trying to point out is that floor to ceiling curtains would be great for the space bc your one window goes to the ceiling. If you are going o put your bed under that window I would recommended using a roman shade mounted as hight as possible above the molding and then do the other two as pictured here.

Just a thought.

I would leave it uncovered. I don't like window coverings though. That window is cool! A roller shade would be the best option if you must do something, so you don't "dress" the window.

If I put roller shades, do I need to nail it to trim or I put a bracket on the outside of the windows?

I wouldn't be able to put shade on the inside as the sill is barely 1" long.

But I can see how a longer curtain or a shade that goes past the window by maybe a foot or so will do a better job at covering the light. RIght?

Plantation shutters, with the wide, modern slats. Complete light control.

Aktillery's advice is excellent. Not only will it provide more light control, placement at the ceiling draws the eye up, making the room feel taller and more spacious. A room-darkening shade mounted outside the frame (use wall anchors) will provide best coverage. There are hundreds of choices of panels, from light sheers to heavy tapestry. It's okay if they hang behind the bed, it will look nice with or without a headboard.

Wow! They did a super nice job! It gives the illusion of a huge window. It also looks so cozy.

Here is what I was suggesting. However, for balance I would place the roman shade up against the ceiling on all windows. This way you have some consistency in your design
