Blade won't turn on push mower after hitting stump
Comments (7)You caused the oil leak by tilting it up with the carburetor side down, which you should never do. Sometimes oil is sucked into the cylinder and results in a hydraulic lock. Take the spark plug and air filter out. If it's a pleated-paper filter, you'll need to get a new one if the mower can be used again. Pull the starter cord with the plug out to get a feel for the severity of the problem and to clear the oil from the combustion chamber. Now you can tilt it up with the carb side high to check for a bent crankshaft. Spin the blade to see if the blade bolt head seems to describe a small circle rather than just turning in place. The other problem usually resulting from an accident like this is the flywheel probably sheared off the key and tuned on the shaft. You'll most likely have to reset the flywheel before it will run. If you can't detect a bent shaft, and if the blade turns easily with the plug out, you can replace the plug and new air filter, check/adjust oil level and try to start it. If it kicks back and backfires, etc., you'll have to reset the flywheel with a new 'Woodruff key'....See MoreHELP! Bluestar Oven Won't Turn On After Cleaning -- and other iss
Comments (13)Bluestar emailed me back. They said its either the ignitor (glowplug) or a valve issue that controls the gas. However since the ignitor isn't glowing its probably the ignitor. It sucks that since my range is 2.5 years old it is out of warranty. It will cost $68 for the ignitor, not including s/h. They also suggested I get a new "updated" oven floor to replace mine with the broken baffle. That will be $168 without s/h, which I'm sure will cost a lot since its heavy....See MoreAc turns off after prolonged use and won't turn back on.
Comments (5)You may be able to do some quick fixes by yourself. This could have to do with improperly cleaned coils, clogged air filter or anything that causes your air conditioner to overheat. Yes, you may still need a pro but we had the same problem and got ours to start running again by following some simple steps. See link below. If that doesn't work, ask again because I know some professional steps you can take. Also, VERY IMPORTANT. Turn off the power to your air conditioner before using any metal tools to mess with it. You can do that at your circuit breaker, as long as you know which one has power to your air conditioner. Comments (7)Here are some suggestions: First, think about encouraging the bigger kids to play at someone else's house more often. It's got to be hard for an 8-year-old with no one his own age to play with, when his older stepbrother gets to have people over every day. Since your son's friends are all in the neighborhood, it should be easy for him to go to their houses instead of everyone always coming to yours. Second, have a talk with your son (and, if you can manage it without your ss hearing, your son's friends) about trying to go easier on your ss. They're 4-5 years older than him: they're going to be faster and more coordinated than an 8-year-old. Tag, nerf guns, whatever-- they're almost always going to be better than he is. Part of being a good older brother/sister is learning to go easier on the littler ones. Since you say your son and his friends are all nice boys, they should be able to understand that and be accommodating. Third is to come up with things to keep your ss occupied while your son and his friends are playing. The older boys should include him sometimes, but they shouldn't have to include him all of the time. Give your ss things to do that he'll enjoy so that he isn't moping around and feeling left out. And fourth is-- like Sweeby said-- you and your husband should work on good sportsmanship with your ss. But don't be surprised if it takes awhile. It can be hard to develop the emotional maturity needed to handle losing. One last thing: have you considered introducing the boys to different kinds of games? Or encouraging them to invent their own? I was the oldest in a largeish family, and when we had a group of kids over and had to include the littler ones, we would sometimes do something like a scavenger/easter egg hunt with different objects hidden in the yard and house. If the kids do the hunt with partners, the younger kid feels included, his chances of being a winner are better (because the older partner can help a lot), and the younger one isn't alone in losing if they don't find enough of the hidden objects. Games that involve partners/teams and don't rely as heavily on physical/mental skill may help things go more smoothly....See More- 17 years ago
