I need feedback needed side lever faucets

I just ordered this faucet online. It is beautiful and solid stainless steel. It looks great and feels very well built and measurements fit a smaller 23 " single bowl sink (Kraus KBU12). I haven't installed it yet and am thinking of returning it because it seems like it wouldn't be ergonomically easy to do temperature adjustments while the faucet is running. It is hard to tell because I can't securely attach it to the counter tops that are not yet installed. Anyone have experience with this type of side lever faucet? Would you buy it again?

I don't have that particular side lever faucet, but I do have one. It's very easy to change the temp while it's running, just a push towards or away from the wall. Your's looks like it functions much the same with a rotation towards or away from the wall. Works well, I'd keep it.

It's OK if you are right-handed, or ambidexterous.

For left-handers, it's not easy to use.

Aimeekitty- I know I'm nowhere near your zone, but I did see something very interesting in a magazine about Eden roses. A gal in Mission Viejo, Southern California wanted an English cottage garden in her yard. She planted lots of trees to get the shade she needed for her flowers and she had lots of arbors with roses and clematis. One was covered with Gartendirecktor Otto linne- a pink rose with blooms about 1" across. She also had three arbors covered with Eden roses that are beautiful! She calls that area her rose walk with benches under the arbors, so she can sit in the shade. This article is in the Country Almanac, Flower Gardens magazine, Spring 2008. I don't know if you can look it up, but the pictures are wonderful. I keep the magazine for ideas, even though some of the flowers won't grow in my area. Good luck with your garden. I'm sure whatever you choose will be beautiful :)

I bought two of the Giagni modern-looking vessel sink faucets at Lowe's recently and had them installed. It was a rush job and I couldn't wait to special order something, and these were in stock. I was also concerned about the quality because I am totally unfamiliar with the brand, but I got them anyway. When they were installed, I asked my plumber what he thought about them -- if he thought they seemed to be of decent quality -- and he said yes, they seemed fine. Only time will tell, of course. And it may be one of those things where if something breaks, it's hard to get parts, etc. But the price and availability were right on, and they certainly look attractive and are functioning fine right now.

I too chose this exact faucet for my farmhouse sink after a lot of hemming and hawing and decision angst. A baffled friend said to me, "It's just a sink!" But it's not. It's a workstation, one which you will spend much time with over the years. I think a kitchen faucet is a major decision. So don't feel bad! I chose the Rohl Country pull-out for the exact features Astridh describes. The button at the top to change from spray to stream mode works fabulously -- no fumbling with a cruddy rubber button to find the sweet spot. Push for spray, turn for stream. It *stays* in spray mode, unlike many other faucets. Testing in the store, the handle felt good in my hand, not absurdly heavy (as some bathroom handshower handles can be), and the lever was accurate and smooth. The one thing I couldn't tell well was how easily it pulls out, but the salesman said that has a lot to do with how/where it's installed. I don't entirely believe that, but any pull-out faucet could need some futzing. My Rohl faucet is still in the box, so I can't give direct experience, but my local plumbing store happened to have this one installed next to several others, so I got to test-drive several with water. I fell in love immediately when I got my hands on the Rohl! Of course I still had to obsess and fret about it for weeks before settling on it :).

Do the shower body and faucet need to be on toilet side of bathroom?

I used to have a tub/shower combo with the diverter and I would run the water through the tub until it was the right temperature and then switch to the shower head. I would then get in. Getting wet or whatever was never an issue. I replaced the tub/shower combo with a shower that has the footprint of the tub and it has a regular shower head plus two hand held shower heads with a three way diverter. There really isn't much of a cold burst of water when I divert from one fixture to another because there is only a tiny bit of water that is in the pipes that needs to come out before the hot water comes through. It's really not an issue as it is not at all like standing under a shower head waiting for the warm water to come from the main source where there is probably a significant amount of water that needs to come through before you get the right temperature.

Mine is not the same model, but I put in a side lever 10 days ago....it is my favorite thing in the new kitchen. I am left handed, does not bother me to use my right hand to control it. I find the side lever much easier to use than the top lever with chicken or dirty hands where you want to use your wrist to turn it on. The only thing I have found that bothers me slightly is the fact that if you have wet hands and go to adjust or turn it off, you drip on the counter more than you would with the regular top lever model. I solved the problem by putting a small decorative dish under the lever and I dump it out every few days. That was easier for me than wiping up under the lever each time I used it.

Our model faucet is similar, the Moen 90 Degree. It shows the lever controller on the right side, but after it went in the first time, I could not STAND the dribbling water on the counter everytime I washed my hands (I'm an OCD hand washer). We had the plumber return and move the controller to the center. It works so much better in the center and the dribbling water goes right into the sink. The only problem is that sometimes, I have to crawl under the sink to untangle the sprayer hose because it gets bunched up around the dishwasher hose, disposal & water shutoff valve. It's a piece of cake, I just keep twisting it until it un-kinks and the pull out sprayer goes in smoothly. I think it's the weight on the hose getting it tangled up. Easy fix.

On lefties: the lever can generally be rotated to the left side or even the middle if you'd prefer.

I'm a rightie and always put my handles on the left if I have a choice.

But anyway, these things are easy to use once you have it a day or two. They're certainly different from what we grew up with but they're intuitive once you unlearn what you learned before. :)
