My sewing machine was in the shop for well over a month and I just got it back a little over a week ago and here's what's been going on:

It's the placemat purse for Christmas Eve.

I also made a wall hanging from an Eleanor Burns book-it's called Bow Tie Wreath:

You can't really tell from the picture but the middles of the bows are three dimentional and it came out really cute. The border is a pointsetta fabric and I sewed some yellow beads onto the middles of some of the flowers.

And last but not least, I've been so inspired by all the beautiful table runners I've seen lately, just had to make one:

It's an Atkinson pattern and it's called " Square Meal." I guess you might say I missed my sewing machine. And now that I'm on a roll, I want to make a Christmas table runner from the pattern on Quiltbug.

Thank you everyone! Before finding this place, I never really decorated for any holiday except Christmas. Ya'll have inspired me! Now if I could just find some more hiding places for the new stuff that somehow finds it's way home with me. My husband says that UPS and Fed Ex have their GPS coordinates set by the location of my house. LOL! Jane, I've discovered the trick for the candy. I just tell my family that they can eat all of it that they want and they don't touch it! But if I tell them "hands off" until after the holiday, they're constantly sneaking behind my back taking candy. Luvs, have you looked on ebay for a matching sugar and creamer for your teapot? Robins, I'm hoping to one day get rid of the hoosier. I live in an older home and that side of the kitchen has no cabinets. The house originally belonged to my husband's grandmother and she had her dining table sitting where I have the island. On the wall where I have the hoosier is where she had her china cabinet so that's why no cabinets. I've been not so subtly hinting to my husband that it's way past time to remodel the kitchen and put cabinets all around the room. I think he's ignoring me.

I pretty much like the larger window size. If you don't mind the 12" cab, which could be useful in many ways, I'd keep it. Candice (or Sarah?) did a Marmoleum checkerboard floor the other day using 3 colors. I didn't like the way it looked, although the material itself looked very interesting. One concern I have about the fridge size: 32" isn't a common size. They exist, of course, but in the larger scheme of things it might be tricky to replace it someday with another that width, and your opening in the cabinetry is very specific. Just be sure you think about that and are comfortable that you'll have reasonable options some day down the road. What's the thing on top of the fridge? It kind of looks like a mini wood-fired stove, but that seems unlikely.

Quick update... I was in Kentucky earlier this month and visited a few antique stores. There was not a spoon to be found. Anywhere. I assumed perhaps people were keeping their silverware, or someone out there is buying it up. Last weekend, I walked into an antique store in Milwaukee to kill some time before meeting DS, and on display just past the entrance--tons of silverware! There were a few complete sets, but most were divided and grouped by pieces. I bought an 8-piece soup spoon set, and a 6-piece sundae spoon set. Once I returned home and unwrapped them, only 1 of the sundae spoons had an area of wear. The rest were in great condition. I'm especially thrilled with the soup spoons, as I don't have that style (mine are just big teaspoon style). And I'm already putting them to good use--making soup today with Jamaican jerk brats I found in the freezer that never made it to the grill this summer, Rancho Gordo runner beans, various vegetables, and fresh herbs still available from my outdoor planters. It's chilly here today, and I'm working from home. Perfect first soup of the season. You can see the detail on the soup spoon handle below. Thanks for indulging me, everyone. I may be developing a new obsession with antique flatware.

First, these are lovely projects, and you HAVE been rather busy. Have fun now that you have your machine back.

Secondly: Sewing machine in the shop for a month !?!?!

Oh, the pain, the pain.

I'm convinced everyone needs more than one sewing machine. You always need a "backup" machine.

Guess what--my backup blitzed out on me just after the major machine--I then used one of my featherweights to finish up a project that had been started for my friend for Christmas. That same week, I also had lots of trouble with my printer. E-mailing back and forth with HP and all that-finally got that straightened out. You think it's something in my blood? I will get another backup machine, soon, very soon.

Lovely job. I keep a backup and use each machine for certain things so I'm not usually shut down. But, if they were all gone, I'd just freak out! Happy holidays to you.

You've sure made up for lost time! Love the bag - love all three projects but the bag really caught my eye! I've got that on my list of things to do - after Christmas. I too, have several backup machines - each one is valued for something different, but they all could pitch in and help if needed!

Those are all great!! BUT----------I love those apple tiles on your walls,did you make those yourself?? I'm in the process of changing the colors in my kitchen to reds,and apples are high on my list of red things.TFS

Those tiles are just stick on's and fit right over the existing tiles--they are metal and I bought them from a friend selling them for a fundraiser for his son. My kitchen is all apples.

Oh, your bag is too fun! Really cute! All of your work looks wonderful. I remember coming home from a three week trip, I sewed like mad for days. Sorry you were without your #1 for so long. But great work once you got it back!
