Cork flooring - is it easy to install, do-it-yourself?
Comments (4)Right now, I'm back to the Wiccanders floating: the actual patterned layer of cork seems thicker. I still haven't seen the 'good stuff' of theirs with the finish containing ceramics, but that one has me spooked because it can only be re-finished by a Wiccanders approved company, you can't just buy it and apply it yourself. That could relate to their pattent, though: maybe it will become available down the road. I like the Durodesign glue down too, though: very cushy, and I'd like the option of having a little more pattern than the floating stuff. Less impressed by Simple floors and the others, though. Not only is the face layer of cork thin, the cushion layer is thin, too. The upside of the simple floors version is that the finish is kind of grainy and matte: much less slippery than the others. The tounge and grove of their engineered seems to be the same as for Globus natural cork, which I don't have a sample of. Yet....See MoreSome of my latest projects
Comments (18)Lots of cool projects. My neighbor has a koi pond, she noticed that her fish were disappearing fast. She then spotted a very large owl in the tree near the pond and as she watched it swooped down grabbed a fish and flew away. So be sure to provide protection from flying predators. She put a milk crate in the pond upside down for the fish to hide in. She strung clear fishing line in a cross hatch pattern above the pond. The line is attached to nails and hooks that are in posts that she set up at the 4 corners of the pond. It works great. The owl can't fly through it and you can't really see it so it's not ugly. You can do it as a top to the pond too make a frame from the pallet lumber string the line across it and lay the whole thing down on top of the pond container. Lift it off for easy access. That could keep ground predators out too....See MoreMy latest little craft project
Comments (19)Rusty, Knit Picks is a web site that sells yarn, knitting needles, crochet hooks, knitting/crocheting books, etc. They have lots and lots of patterns - some free, some for purchase. I really like their Dishie yarn (100% cotton) for making dishcloths and washcloths, as well as what my family calls "soap sacks." Those are for putting all of those little left-over-too-small-to-use-but-too-big-to-throw-away pieces of soap. Here's a picture of one. This first pic was taken before adding a little I-cord loop at the top, to hang it in the shower. (You put the pieces of soap inside, then close it with the I-cord drawstring.) And here it is after completion:...See MoreXpost, This is my latest project, anyone else have projects to share?
Comments (26)Everyone's quilts are absolutely GORGEOUS!!! I've never tried quilting... yet. :) I want to share another of my roadside wicker "saves" because it's so unusual. lol! I saw these legs at the road while on a walk one day last year and passed them by initially, but felt guilt pangs and had to try to save it. :O) The lower part of the base was shot, the toes were shot, and the top obviously had problems. lol! I was able to pull away the bad parts and (masterfully, if I must say ;^) weave in the base, new toes, and a whole new supportive "girdle" so that I could make a small tabletop for it. The original weaver did a fabulous job on the legs, so I had to save them! :)...See Moreilikefriday
