Here are a few I found online. I don't know any of the price points other than the Ethan Allen, as it was listed. I don't know what your budget is either. Are you going to have any other furniture in your room other than the table? A 12x13 room with a 60" table + 6 chairs + buffet or anything else is going to be a really tight squeeze. You generally want to leave a minimum of 2-3' of floor space between the outside of the dining chairs and any other furniture for traffic. If the table is the only thing in your DR, than you'll have plenty of space. If you are wanting to add anything else, your guests will have a really tight squeeze getting in & out of their seats. My DR is 13'6"x17" and I have ruled out a 60" table, which is what I really wanted. With the table, chairs, & buffet, it would be a really cluttered room. Nicole, Thanks...I'd been looking for months, in furniture stores, craigslist, everywhere and nothing really wowed me that didn't cost a fortune! Liz, It's a very deep cherry...sorta like brazillian cherry...has sorta a zebra effect dark brown/black hue then the deep red. It's VERY heavy, took 3 of us to move. I think the top has a thin layer of veneer on it though from everything I could find on the FFDM site, but it's in great condition, one tiny bruise less than the size of a dime right near the corner, I touched it up with a furniture marker and now it's not noticeable at all and i'm very picky! Any idea on wall color? i'm sorta a matchy matchy person and this DEF is out of the ordinary for me, I usually lean towards very dark espresso furniture. I love color though.. My kitchen is louisburg green by BM with red accents -Valspar red , (have the color name somewhere) but it's a deep red inside very upper cabs, with glass fronts and lights..the rest of the cabs are white (wanted to make the kitchen very bright since it's gallery style and long!) The kitchen leads right into this dining room, and then into our living room which is a light taupe (prob change in the future so that color isn't important). Any ideas on what will fit with the louisburg green? I'm not a fan of just beige/offwhite, and I do love color in my life, esp greens, blues, greys, etc. (I hate purple hues or anything with a purple hint)

"Do people with any taste still use these?" LOL! I ask myself that Q all the time! Here are my general opinions: I personally don't like much of anything skirted...but then my decorating tastes are more minimal. With that said, If was WAS going to skirt a bedside table, I would make sure I didn't overdo fabrics throughout the room so it appears everything is bathed in fabric. I prefer more balance of fabrics, woods, and other textures. I would make sure the fabrics on the bed & potentially on windows aren't matchy-matchy with the skirting. I would attempt to either play up the side table, or down-play it depending on what else is going on in the room...to create balance. Either create a focal point or be careful to not over-ride an existing focal point. So, with THAT said, I would personally not put glass on top. To me that's fussy (but then, that's me), so instead of glass tops, I would put a tray or some other nice-looking piece along-side the lamp (or whatever is on there) for the purpose of placing glasses & personal items in a contained and protected spot. Also, to me...when I see glass tops when nearby lamps/lighting are on...I just see the reflection of the glass more than I notice anything decorative. Again, light reflection draws the eye to the glass. Not sure if that happens to anyone else...but that's what I see. You might want to assess the lighting and determine if that's an effect you might be going for.

Thanks all for the real useful suggestions and the kind words about the kitchen. maddielee: The chaise position is flexible -- I could even ditch it and use the chair and half instead or a club or arm chair. The corner makes a good corner to read or work on the PC. pricklypear: I could go the dark wood route with the occasional pieces -- I know there is a clash in the wood stains. I thought about metal, mirror and glass though, to keep things lighter. I guess the differences between the two are exaggerated in the photos since i have all the extra tchotkes and decor on one side (even more than normal), and the other side has been stripped. In fact, the room just had the excess boxes and stuff removed from the reno -- it was the main storage container for the reno of the EIK and FR! I was glad to just get the last moving box off the DR table. liriom: Yes, that's it, the functions are at war... I hadn't thought of a library type of view -- I think a wall of builtins on the short side, and the long side of the wall would look great. The existing built-ins to the left of the FP give a clue to a possible direction -- I would match the style, I think. I'm looking at lots of examples on Houzz. Or perhaps, at a much lower cost, I could simply add back the top of the china hutch and turn it into a bookcase. sueb: You are right about the kitchen, there is plenty of dining options there, plus a full bar in the FR. This table would only be used rarely. And, I just evicted a square table (no leaves) from the FR. I discovered a photo of the chandy on my phone... was taken in the shop... I will experiment with decluttering the LR side -- and moving some furniture around next.
