Oh I dunno toolgranny, my cat evidently doesn't have any taste, he sits on my ugly ones too. Pretty cat, lovely quilt MaryC. Haven't seen you lately and was wondering where you were. ;-) Your pecan pie sure looks prettier than mine does. I made pumpkin pies, but this gal has a suthrun heart I guess so threw one together as an afterthought. Holidays just aren't complete without a pecan pie, even though I imagine I'll have to eat this entire pie myself. Nasty work, but I'm up to it. Mine dripped over and started a fire in my oven. LOL. The rest of the meal is almost all prepped out, so tomorrow I'll just stuff the dressing up the turkey's bum, cram it in the oven and relax until the rest of the family shows up.

OHHH, Mary, now I want to make one, too!!! Blue quilts are my fave and that blue is stunning!!! The pie ain't too shabby, too!! And oh yes, the cat is lovely but I can't have a cat around here, too many allergies and a cat-hating dog. And I do love cats so.

Family always asks for pecan pie at every holiday meal but I am too much in a hurry to arrange those nuts artistically. They just get dumped into the shell and where they land is where they rise. Maybe for Christmas, I will try to be a little more creative. I said "maybe". Happy eating!

Well, if you've got a quilt to lie on that's great, but if it's on top of something else like a table, even better! And warm from the dryer - well, that's just feline heaven! What a pretty kitty.

Your pie is beautiful - it will be a shame to cut it. I made pecan pie once (and only once) because my DH said he likes them. He ate one slice and eventually the rest got thrown away. So now if he wants pecan pie he can make it himself. LOL

Your Pie is gorgeous! I cheated this year - I stopped in a Trader Joe's Tuesday evening for some coffee and a pecan pie jumped in my cart! It won't be nearly as good as yours - but it was easy!

What a homey picture...both of them actually. Pecan pie is one of my favorites. I made pumpkin for today and tomorrow I'll pop a chocolate/pecan with bourbon pie in the oven. I've never made one like that, so I'm really looking forward to trying it. Please post a pic of the whole quilt, it is really pretty.

This is a maple syrup pecan pie - a family favorite.

The sad thing is, while I make a good pie - I don't actually like pie myself, LOL. I take a bite to taste-test, and then I'm done.

But I love to bake, so bake I do.

Just heard a news report that the price of pecans will rise considerably because of the poor crop this year because of weather. I had better hop to it and get my supply before the retailers hear this.

Actually, the price rise is more because some growers are exporting up to 90% of their crop to China.

That was also a reason given.

Very homey. Makes me want to try a pie that pretty and pecan isn't even my fave! I agree about the blue quilt. But I think the cat knew how great it looks on the blue and white background!

So I mortgaged the house and bought the pecans. This morning I made two pies. For the first, I just filled the shell with the nuts and let them rise as they wanted to. For the second, I actually arranged them somewhat like that beautiful picture above. Mine doesn't look that good but it will get eaten anyway.

Your quilt is really pretty - glad your cute kitty likes it, too!

Your pie looks great! My DH and DS love pecan pie, but not me - it is just too sweet. Before DH retired, HE made pecan pies for his customers for a Christmas gift ... was up to 150 pies by the time he retired!!! Clients started asking in July if he was going to make pies again (also a family recipe!). I very seldom helped, but DS helped chop pecans!

Our pecan prices were lower this year (at Sams Club) than in the past few years so I stocked up and have several bags in the freezer.

Your post is aptly named! I don't care for pecan pie, but your pie is really beautiful. It looks like it belongs in a magazine, the crust is perfect, the pecans are all arranged just so...it's gorgeous. And the cat looks so cozy, I'd like to join her for a nap with a just-out-of-the-dryer quilt.
