pretty excited about the leaves I'm getting...

I won an ebay auction for 2 leaves of each of the following:

Outer Limits 12/17/2005 (Lyndon Lyon Greenhouses/D. Herringshaw) Single-semidouble blue large frilled pansy/pink and white fantasy. Dark green, plain/red back. Large

Dazzling Fantasyland (9521) 12/17/2005 (Lyndon Lyon Greenhouses/P. Sorano) Single-semidouble light pink pansy/blue fantasy, violet-red edge. Dark green, plain/red back. Large

Sinister Shadow (Lyndon Lyon Greenhouses) Deep, dark purple, single and semi-double pansies. This variety is more like the older type of violets. The standard, dark green foliage, is variegated in beige on the leaf edge.Standard.

Sora Zachariah (B. Werness) Light blue semidouble blossoms edged in white and green, over variegated foliage of dark green and white. (User Database)

Sheer Romance (6752) 11/02/1987 (S. Sorano) Double pink star/white edge. Medium green, ovate. Large

Rum Punch (S. Sorano) Semi-double double medium pink star/mauve tips. Dark green. Standard

Sweet Lady Love (LLG)Medium pink, semidouble pansies, with a dainty frilled, thin white edge. Occasionally, green shows up on the top petals. A profuse bloomer! Well shaping, standard foliage of medium green, slightly quilted. Standard.

Silver Smoke (LLG)Clusters upon clusters of the palest shade of lavender, semidouble, pansy shaped blossoms are marked strongly in green on the petal edges, and are produced above medium green, quilted and pointed, lightly wavy show foliage, sporting a silver reverse. Standard.

Alison's Laughter (LLG)Very large, double stars of medium purple, with a thin white outline on very frilled edges. Raspberry fantasy flecks playfully decorate the flower face, and occasionally, blue streaks also join in. The standard foliage is large growing, dark green, with a red reverse, and quilted. Awarded "2nd BEST NEW CULTIVAR", at the 2006 AVSA convention.

Wrangler's Jealous Heart (6225) 05/20/1986 (W. Smith) Double pansy, ruffled/light pink and green edge. Variegated dark green and pink, ruffled, hairy. Large

What's funny is that I had been contemplating placing an order from LLG, and a bunch of those are ones I'd been looking at.

I'm so excited!

My March plans had initially included the beginning of my sunchoke harvest next week and putting in the first rows of peas mid-month... which could easily still happen. Given that we're getting our best snowfall of the year right now, that may be postponed... or require a little top-undressing before I get to the harvesting part. Sunchokes are a remarkably forgiving crop, but not necessarily worth shoveling snow to harvest, and I have no delivery obligations till Easter week-end. It's truly spring in the hoop houses now, but even they will be a bit cool come Sunday.

What a find! Hard to believe someone would actually throw that away! But I'm sure happy for you that they did. Our dump doesn't allow anyone to take anything. What a shame since so much could be salvaged or recycled. But apparently they are afraid of lawsuits if someone gets hurt. I think dumps should have a section for 'good' stuff to put aside and let folks have it. But then we can't even curb shop here as you can't put anything out there. :o( I think Phoenix must hate recycling!! How dumb is that. hugs, Karen

Yeah, my neigbhors asked me how I was able to achieve that many plants. They saw me working on the garden around early March. They were curious about the garden beds I was making. They saw the milk jugs. I explained to them what it was and also gave them the Wintersown site. I actually watched their reactions when they saw it. They didn't pay much attention to it kinda like "oh, ok". However, when plants started to come out/bloom, they went back to me and asked, "was that from the tiny greenhouse". :) I'm going to make more beds maybe by fall once my knee gets better. :D Thanks mnwsgal! :)

I know you're probably wondering why I'm so excited, this is my 1st season with dls so you are going to see me get excited quite a bit. Update for the end of day on those. Pacific Coast went so white in the center I could barely believe it. That pic was taken at 7:30am & by 5pm is was as white as a ghost. Very impressed w/ FFO compared to others I've been experiencing. As far as the edge no eye goes, I have a bloom on Ruby Border this morning which is 3/4 open & looking like the border is a lot more prevalent. In a few hrs it should be completely open & can say more. I don't want to steer people wrong about my other post so that is why I'm mentioning it. That is also why Walking In Beaty got tagged on, I just wanted people to know that it isn't veiny afterall. The watermark on Cosenza didn't show up later in the day, we'll see what the 3rd bloom does. Yesterday we had a high of 81 & it only faded just a bit by 5pm. There was a pic posted of this cultivar earlier in the season & can't remember who posted it. If you saw that pic, you would love it 10x's more!

Thanks! I have no idea what I'll do with all those plants, but I suppose I have time to figure it out.

Oh, deja vu! Last year at this time I was where you are now, adding to my collection with great joy! Enjoy the process and love the results.

Now the patience comes in...WAITING for the leaves to root, WAITING for the babies to appear, WAITING for them to get big enough to separate and pot. WAITING for flower buds! FUN

Oh good gracious, she sent me EXTRAS. This wonderful lady sent me leaves from 3 other plants, along with all the ones I'd purchased from her. And for a lot of those plants, she gave me 3 leaves, not just 2. Good gracious, I'm going to have plants coming out the wazoo! Another item of interest - somehow I had managed to not notice how many of these are large, not standard. Ack!

I think I'm going to have to commit myself to only keeping one of each. Think I'll be able to do it? ;0)
