Question as I research refinancing rates

I have a bit of a silly question as I embark upon researching rates to refinance our home.

Background: We are currently in a 7/1 ARM at 5.25%. I'd like to convert to a 30 year conventional.

I spoke with my current lender (Countrywide) today and they pulled our credit scores. Mine ranged from 756-791 and husband's was 786-825. The rate they quoted me was 4.875% with 1.875 points. I'm wondering if I could get something lower.

So now to my question (finally!) When I spoke with Countrywide, they wouldn't quote a rate until they pulled our credit. When I go to other lenders will they do the same? Will multiple queries on our credit hurt our scores? If so, how do I get around this and still get an accurate rate quote?

Many thanks!
