Wii -- Still Using Yours?

We never did buy this for exercise. I'm wondeering if those of you who have them are still using them. Years ago we bought a NordicTrac that quickly became a mere 'sculpture' -- unused. At least the Wii doesn't take up much space.

If we DO get this, exactly WHAT are we looking for and what are the costs? We just want the basics, to be able to do exercises indoors, out of the weather, without going to a gym.

DS has one.This morning I heard on the news that since there are no summer olympics this year that Wii was having one of its own nationwide with various competitions that's all I heard

Where are all the people who were talking about this thing last winter? Was it just a flash in the pan? Not durable? Lost interest in it?

Thanks for the color names, Jynxed; I appreciate it. Since monitors can vary with color "interpretation", I can't tell if your window treatment is light blue or gray. It reads grayish on my screen (as well as your backsplash?) and goes well, I think, with your wall color. So now yellow/gold is back in the running along with LA Spice for my kitchen. Xoxosmom--don't wait too long before Christmas to buy your Wii; they're still not easy to come by. I just got one last week and have yet to hook it up (been too busy to chance getting sidetracked by the games). I, too, was wondering if we'd leave it hooked up (and out) all the time or what. Tracey

Thanks Silver, No LonePiper I don't keep a list, I don't have to. In the quid pro quo scenario you suggested "he does a favor for me but I won't do a favor for him" is where the scorekeeping takes place. Since my quids are heavily discounted and theirs are so few it's pointless to even think that way. So, back on point...the Wii is not making the trip if DS7 actually goes. After running it past the group here I've wavered on the whole thing. No doubt that SS30 will put this in his quid pro quo quiver, I have to sacrifice DS7's Wii plus games in exchange for the "childcare" to take pressure off of me and DH while he recovers from surgery (not one call this week by the way from either adult stepkid on how the surgery went or the hospital visit) plus the drive to where they live in the exurbs. (the land beyond true suburbs but in the same county. We are from California, big counties,long drives.) On semi positive note SD36 did keep DS7 overnight while DH and I were at hospital. Literally dropped him off at home this morning before dawn because of a business appointment for me to clean up, feed and turn around for school since I was at THEIR FATHER'S hospital last night. As the stepmother I've realized that their lack of involvement, lower abdominal feelings towards their dad has very little to do with me personally. And even less to do with DS other than thinking he is geting their free silver plated ride through life. They haven't even called their dad through all of this!!!! WTF? No Wii. I think DS will have more fun at home with real neighborhood friends than with these fake, adult 1/2 siblings and their offspring.

I know two people who have Wii Fit. Both were fairly enthusiastic when they first got it several months ago. I haven't heard a word about it from either of them lately.

I think it's just like any other piece of exercise equipment. If you've really really made up your mind to get fit, you'll use it. Only you know if you're really going to use it often enough to justify its existence in your home.

I bought a treadmill a few years back and used it off and on. Not a lot but it was tucked away in an otherwise unused bedroom. In April I finally got the bug and started using it. I walk every day unless there is a compelling reason why I can't. Out of town for example. I started slow but I'm up to 31 minutes at 3.1 mph daily, 40 minutes on weekends. I intend to build up to more. And it's already made a difference in my weight. (I have a long way to go.)

I have a TV and dvd player in that room and watching a movie (in installments) or other entertainment makes a huge difference to me in making the time go by faster.

I'm not sure a Wii would work for me for that exact reason. I like to have something to take my mind off what I'm doing instead of being forced to concentrate on it.

My son bought me one last year and I was so excited. I used it for a month and was bored out of my mind.

I exercise every day. I have a treadmill, Eliptical machine and about 50 tapes. I try to do something different every day to mix it up so it's not an issue of comittment. The wii is just boring.

Bought it, used it for 2 months, got bored. There it sits.

Besides, I prefer walking outside and on the treadmill, swimming (we have an inground), using a core ball and weights. That'll do it.

I agree with magic...the wii for boring. I also bought a fitness wii DVD, used it twice and never again. I bought another highly recommended fitness wii DVD that I never used, not even once. I'm done with wii. I prefer my own equipment.

I got the Wii Fit Plus in December and used it regularly for several months. Then things got crazy at work with the regular work load plus I was having to train someone to take my place. Just didn't have the energy. I retired at the end of April and was too busy trying to get my house ready to sell and didn't have time. Now I have started using it again. I still love it.

I'm still using mine even more so now that I have the Wii Fit Plus. Some of the exercises on the original Wii got boring after a while. But I really enjoy many of the new ones on the Wii Fit Plus.

still using our's several yrs later both the workout games and a few other's. actually now we use it all the time for Netflix streaming lol, i think it ran more than 8 hrs a day during the whole holiday weekend w/ friends over day & night everyday! summertime in orlando is like winter up north, we do not do alot outside during the day, we do alot inside from june-oct lol.

we get new workout games every few months infact DH uses Gold's Gym Boxing and there is a new one coming in Sept and i am MOST excited about a new Ea Sports game. i use both Ea workout games and now in nov. they are adding a heart rate monitor & new exercises that will show onscreen your true workout efforts and whether you are working out in the correct zone! very cool!

of course there is a new HD Wii around the corner in 2011...can't wait! ~ liz
