Cabinet Crown, Ceiling Crown, Ceiling Color - What did you do?

Our kitchen will have painted cabinets with crown in SW Creamy. The painter recommended flat white ceilings, and white semi-gloss trim/crown in the room. The crown of the ceiling will "die into" the kitchen cabinet crown. Will this look odd? Pure white next to a creamy white???

Any recommendations? There are so many potential combinations. Pictures would be great!

My cabinets and trim are both SW Creamy. I just found it mentally easier to picture them matching rather than one being whiter than the other. I don't have pictures yet but should have some by the end of next week.

I can't remember where you are located. Near me there is a company that makes an Adam style ceiling and I am sending you the link because it has a cornice that goes with it. If you don't use the plaster cornice you could probably do a two part in wood that was fairly linear and then had the palmettes or whatever those things are in wood or composite and then paint the whole thing out flat to look like plaster. That's too much space to fill up with molding. If smaller cabinets on top is too expensive (check out a local carpenter, it's not at much money as you think!) then create a soffit and apply panel molding to it to resemble doors on top and then do your crown molding.

I personally think it looks great. I'm with MIssyV, do you like how this looks? I think it's pretty unique. Every other pic I found has it all the same color so I think it would be something unexpected. It will look fine because the cabinets will stand apart from the wall like furnature does. I would use the crown in the rest of the room but paint it a color that doesn,t make it a really stong focal point.

I have the opposite--SW Creamy ceilings, trim & crown with white cabinets (with pewter glaze). I only have 1 white cabinetry piece that goes to the ceiling, though--it's the arch over the sink. The adjacent cabinets are lower. My hood goes to the ceiling, but it is stained. Our lighting is very soft and that probably makes a difference too. In your situation, it sounds like your crown would end up being a continuous look with the cabinets going to the ceiling. In that situation, I would likely go with all SW Creamy for a seamless look. Do note that SW Creamy looks more yellow if you pair it with cooler colors like light blue and lavender. Here's a pic of our sink arch for you...

I matched my trim to my cabs, BM Satin Impervo Waterborne in Simply White. I knew I didn't want two colors going on to draw attention to the trim. Since it was all new and I HAD the ability to match, why not? The SI is slightly shiny or glowing, but not shiny like semi-gloss. We actually painted the entire house's interior trim the same we liked it so much! Ceilings are flat ceiling white.

My builder actually did what yours is talking about. My cabinets are "Vintage Lace" and my house trim is SW Creamy. He blended the crown molding into the crown molding of the cabinets.

The two colors have never bothered me together, but to be honest I have to say I have never really loved the look of how one crown kind of fits over the other. I wonder if it would have looked better if the room crown had been 90 degreed off. Does that make sense?

I don't have very many pics on my iPad. But here's one under construction. You can see the two crowns above the pantry door and the frig. My ceilings are Creamy as well.

Thank Breezy and Red Lover! We made the plunge and went with SW Creamy trim (semi-gloss) and ceiling (flat). Now, if only the painter's equipment will work! Poor guy had to drive to another supplier for parts. Both of his sprayers "blew up" this weekend. From what he told me this morning, it was a white mess on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
