SW Blonde looks ICKY in my house!
Comments (35)Superchick, I could have written this post myself. I cannot begin to tell you how many different paint colors we tried on sample boards, taped to walls, etc., changed and changed again. We were originally going to go with BM Chestertown Buff in our main living area and halls, and it looked so great on the sample chip. But on the walls . . . it was a way too bright yellow for us. We then thought we needed to go more brown and ended up trying BM Gingerbread Man, which was less yellow, but way too orange! I thought we had everything all set to go so the paint lady could get started, and by the time she arrived on site, I was near to tears with complete frustration. She was very helpful, and we ended up going with BM Wilmington Tan, which is one of their historical colors (HC-34). The painter has started with this color, and it looks SO much better than the others. It is a warm beige color, not too yellow, and not too orange. We like that it is warmer than some of the grayer looking beige tones. We are using BM Vanilla Ice Cream for our trim color, and it blends nicely. SW Blonde was another color we were considering, and we are using it in our back hallway. It is golden looking tan on the wall, and I understand about how you might think it looks "icky", but I really think it will look fine once our darker mixed tile flooring is installed. I know many people have raved about this color. Anyway, you may want to check out the Wilmington Tan as an option, by Benjamin Moore, or something like it. It is a little less gold and a little more there than the SW Blonde. By the way, I love BM's cork color as well, but we thought this might be too bright/dark for such a large area of the house. Comments (17)Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I apologize if I did not make it clear in my post what I am trying to do....the bedding is brand new and I am looking for a color to paint my master bedroom. (Currently the master bedroom is painted off white because the previous owners never painted an actual color). I want to paint my bedroom a color that will go beautifully with the bedding BUT whatever color I paint the bedroom, I want it to flow well with the whole wheat out in the hallway. I am afraid that whatever color goes well with the bedding, might clash with the hallway. Many of you are mentioning sage green...downstairs in my living room I have BM's Dried Basil which is a very nice sage green and it goes very nice with the whole wheat foyer. I do have that small block pillow shown in the pic above (the one with the blue square on it) however I don't have anything else blue in the room. I am not sure choosing blue for the walls would work. There is absolutely no blue in the rest of the fabrics. It seems to make sense to go with either gold or green...I just have never seen a green room with bold red fabrics before. Will it look like Christmas?...See MoreIf SW Camelback/Whole wheat is too green, then what?
Comments (15)I have Whole Wheat in all the common areas of my house (we have a very open layout) and it only has a green cast to it in certain light at certain times of day. It is a gorgeous color, but perhaps in your house the lighting is such that it is appearing extra greenish. Before painting the Whole Wheat I had sampled Tobacco Road because I have been told that it is very similar to WW and CB (and there is a big following of that color on this forum)...I did like Tobacco Road but opted to use the Whole Wheat instead, simply because it is so difficult to get the paint stores to mix up Tobacco Road correctly because it is a discontinued Duron color. Being that I have so much wall space, I didn't want to risk using a color that I would not get consistent batches of. I agree with the person above who suggested Blonde. Ivoire is also nice. I have not personally tried those colors, but I have seen them in other people's homes and they are beautiful golden colors. You will find the correct color!...See Morecolor close to SW Blonde but...
Comments (41)Bonniee, thank you for the link, Rays looks like a great place to shop for bedding....wish they were in FL:) Was there a brand name to your bedding? I would be interested in looking at a brand name website to check dimensions of their bedding. We just bought a new mattress set and my old comforter is not long enough....it needs to be at least a few more inches to make it nicely past the top edge of the box spring. These new mattresses so tall....its crazy. I hate to go custom, but most of the stores carry comforters that are made to fit standard size or the older size mattress depths. So buying something in a department store has not worked out for me. At least I am back to a standard size bedskirt. Our last mattress set we bought 10 years ago, had a 9 inch box spring, the bedskirt had to be custom. Now my box spring is normal and the mattress is too tall. A friend suggested a duvet, but I am not sure if that would be longer on the sides to cover the mattress. Thanks again for the link, I might call them to see if they can email me some pictures of any thing they have that might fit....See Moremamiebella
