Advice on honed marble counter tops
Comments (3)I've had my honed statuary marble for 2 years. I have etching and "worn" spots where I cook and mix (and thus turn bowls) all the time. Even scratches where I slide a bowl (or laptop or something else) across the counter top. But I have no stains. As another poster said, you only see the etches (and worn parts) when the light catches it right and you are looking. The marble is still my favorite thing in my entire house. I seal with the 511 (fabricator sealed and gave me a new bottle). I've done it twice since it was new, so I guess about once a year. When water doesn't bead anymore, it's time to seal....See MoreHoned marble counters. Polished or honed marble mosaic backsplash
Comments (1)I generally like a contrast, and I like shiny splashes that light reflects off of, but if using marble, I'd probably stay with the honed for the splash too. The polished will get splattered -- maybe not a lot, but I wouldn't want to see those dull spot against the polished. On the honed, I doubt anything would be enough to bother me, and if it was, I know I could buff it out....See MoreDIY honing marble countertop
Comments (45)I was told that my carrara countertops are honed but they do have a sheen and don't look like your after pics. Hmm..I love the look you created. I am on here searching because the fabricator missed one edge of the countertops--so it's raw and doesn't look like the rest and I'm wondering if I can hand sand and hone or polish it to get it to look like the rest. It's an edge that won't show much after the stove is installed but I'd still like to give it a try....See MoreHelp finding honed marble for my kitchen countertops!
Comments (15)I've read it all, dan1888 - the vast majority of people I've heard from who have it love it. I'd be open to a honed quartzite if I could find one I like but those seem few and far between as well. I want a natural stone, not quartz/resin. Lorilou, I don't understand why I can't get a polished slab and have it honed, but they don't seem to do that. I have looked at AG&M but am not familiar with Levantina, I'll look that up....See Morerubyvine
