Got A New Toy

I bought this treadle..1904 model 15. I was looking for a newer one but this one sews, has no rust, all its parts and it was the model I wanted. The cabinet is pretty good too, needs some minor stuff...cleaning! So if you like this stuff here are some pictures.

Annie, do you have an email, I have a few questions.

Tony, I just love the way you describe everything. You really get your feelings of excitement across. It motivates me when I read your posts. Once again, our tastes and styles are matching up. We are putting a movie room in our basement too. We are just in the planning stages but it looks like it will be in the same location as yours. What size is yours? What kind of tv is that? Are you happy w/ the picture? Who usually wins when you play darts? I stink at it, but I try. :) The tractor, wow! My dh would give his left arm for one of those. We are going to wait a while for that. I'm sure it makes clearing the land easier and fun. "It's been a nightmare to keep the red dirt out of the house." I feel your pain. That red clay is impossible to get off our basement floor. Being in our new home is better than I could have ever imagained. All of the things I worried so much about seem so silly now.

oh wow! This looks like fun - you won't be sleeping..... I looked up your new machine - did you see there is a $100 rebate if you bought it this week? I remember you mentioning a new machine at Christmas -buying on machines Ebay scares me, although I know people get great deals. So glad you got what you really wanted.

I love those! Right after attempting my first project using pins, I stole the magnet wand from my son's toybox. I keep it by the machine, and as I pull the pins out of the fabric, I practically "toss" them to my side and on to the magnet. I don't even have to look where I'm tossing. (Though maybe I should look every now and then.) I want to get one of those big magnet pincushions. But they are 12 bucks here. And stealing my son's toy was free. :-) francy

Oh Wow! Suhh-weet! Gorgeous, no rust and it sews, too? I'd say you have found a grand new toy. Enjoy!

I'd love to see a video of sewing on a treadle -- see what you can do about that, o.k.? LOL!

NICE machine! While the Sphinx decals were common on the long-bobbin Singer 27, they are not found very often on the 15 (or 115 which this may be.)

From what I can see,the cabinet of mine
looks just like yours.Mine has a drawer
in the front. It looks like yours might have
or has one. I've had mine for several years and
nevr managed to get the belt on it. I would
love to sew on it.

Thank you everyone. The machine was partially seized but with lots of Liquid Wrench and new oil she is humming like a queen tonight and I am sewing quilt blocks together. I have a few parts to order and then I am excited to try FM quilting. I was just looking for a good sewing machine and I am not a collector...but I have ended up with both. It is amazing a machine can look and work so good at age 105.

Mayme that is so interesting you have the same cabinet. I don't know if this is the original cabinet but it is very aged but complete and I do have the center drawer but it needs a bit of repair so right now it doesn't stay in place. There is a cabinet for sale on ebay that is identical but in prime condition.

I certainly have learned a lot about sewing machines over the past 2 months and it is very interesting. Thanks again, I have to get back to my baseball game and sewing.
