What Has Everyone Been Doing This Week

Trying to get out and work in the garden a lot of the days this week, have had rain though and that has slowed us down. We started picking black raspberries but have not gotten to pick very many. A couple days the girls and I did some shopping and we have done a lot of having fun with Alyssa. She is now 28 months old. We came in to fix lunch yesterday and I told her, I have to sit down a little bit as I have a belly ache. She led me to my recliner and said to me, "Grandma, what are we going to do with you!" Always saying funny things. She helped me shuck sweet corn and put Miracle Whip on our ham and cheese sandwiches for our lunch. This morning I am headed out back to assist Cheryl with the garden and then pick berries in the woods. We will also start planning what we will have for our Fourth of July. What have you all been doing this week. I hope you have a terrific day.

Been kind of a quiet week this week. Kind of nice for a change. The grandkids came for awhile yesterday. Always love seeing them. Today we are going to a wedding of a girl I used to babysit for many years ago. A young man and his wife I used to babysit for just had their first baby. Love still being able to see them. Tells me I am getting older.

I cannot believe your gd is over 2. It seems like just yesterday she was born. Sounds like a wonderful little one and yes you never know what they will say and when--like mine--in church--I have to go potty. Everyone just smiles.
Great weather here and our garden is loaded with weeds due to the rain that would not stop for awhile and the chicken fertilizer my son in law added. I have been out every day to pull them out. Birds love it as there is so many worms for the babies. Our garden is almost a month behind this year. DD did get some radishes but nothing else.

Rosefolly, I'm so sorry I didn't get to meet you! I volunteer in the Rose Hotel, and we were pretty busy, but I still would love to meet the GW people who come to the cemetery. Turning it will speed up the composting. You'll know its done when the temp is the same as the outside temperature. I'd quit adding stuff, and just let the microbes do their own thing. I think you should turn it fairly often, so the heat doesn't just decompose stuff in one place.

I took a DVD called "Days of The One Room Schoolhouse" to a local nursing home to share with the residents as one of their activities for this week. Had lunch first with a friend who resides there and had a long visit. Everyone seemed to enjoy the documentary even tho several fell asleep. ;) On the way there I happened to look down and see the "Check Engine" light was on. Oh crap. I was hoping I'd at least make it to the home and then when I came back out the car would start. It did start but the light was still on so I drove it on into the dealership where I know the hourly rate of service is high but. Anyhow, a young guy got in the car with a diagnostic tool and hooked that up to my car's computer under the steering wheel (who knew?) and then asked if I had recently gotten gas. I had. He said the car's computer was showing the code for "Loose gas tank cap". He checked it, tightened it, and the light went off. Plus there was no charge - what a relief. Esp. about the no charge, that doesn't happen very much now days. Came home, made a cup of coffee and then went out and finished mowing parts of the yard I didn't get to yesterday. Now I can relax.

morning! we are in TrabenÂ´on the mosel river, staying in another youth hostel. lauren and i ate breakfast, boys are still sleeping. we are leaving in a little bit to drive to koln to go to the zoo. this keyboard is driving me nuts...the letters are in different places...well, some of them. so excuse my mistakes. we are here for three days going to trier tomorrow and then frankfurt on wednesday, fly out on wednesday morning. it will be good to get home. lot of things have changed here, the base i used to work at is completely changed, do not recognize anything about it as they have moved the old gates and the main road has changed outside it. i also could not find the last house i lived in, used to be a tiny village with one main street and maybe 20 homes, now has 2 streets and no sign of the old house. cannot wait to get home and catch up on everyone here at the kt.

Hi Marilyn Sue! I've worked a few days..working one more, tomorrow. Tuesday we sent our exchange student to Washington D.C. and then he went home to Turkey. I still haven't cleaned his room up. I was up nearly 30 hours the day before and that day because I had to work an weird evening shift the day before he left for the airport. I took a short nap in the afternoon because I couldn't stay awake any longer.

Oh, no...people are shooting off fireworks. D@mn, I thought they would know by now they weren't supposed to do that in town anymore.

Lauren is in Chicago till tomorrow with a friend. She got to go to China town today. I'm so jealous. So, had the house to myself for the last few days.

So, now going to hope they quit with the fireworks so I don't have to call the police and can sleep.

I had a wonderful two days at my brothers home on the Cape. We are six girls and one boy in our family and we decided to have a siblings only sleepover. It was beyond wonderful!! We came from all over and laughed, talked, ate, prayed, wept a bit for lost ones, then started the cycle all over. It's two days I will never forget. My younger sister dreamed it up. It's one thing to be with family and spouses but, if you can ever get your sibs alone and do this, the result is sooo rewarding. Today is another family party for my sister who is visiting from the south along with all her family so more fun. It's been a great week.

It's been a very hot, humid and rainy week. Because of that the weeds came up with a vengeance and I spent 5 hours weeding yesterday.

We picked berries this morning! They are nice and red, but also muddy, and a lot are rotting on the vines.
