I just wanted to let everyone know the final outcome of the settees. As previously stated, my husband and I went to see the settees in person and they were quite lovely and seemed very well made. I ultimately decided to offer $1200 for both settees and the seller agreed. I know some of you may think that I'm spending far too much on them, but for silk settees in perfect condition that mach our dimensions and decor I'm both relieved and happy. This is one major item I can cross off my "To Find" list. Now I can focus my efforts on finding some chairs to place in the bay front of our living room. -Thanks again to all of you for your advice, suggestions, and opinions.

KAT, I think you nailed it!! DH even commented tonight, when I was going through a circular from another store I stopped in (after seeing this couch set). he says to me, you like everything. And I tell you, I do, I mean really the only thing that I dont like is anything too big and poofy. I guess I'm just style impaired, not really knowing what is considered formal etc. I just see something and if it appeals to me, I like it. I told him, I guess I'm just not hard to please :) And yes, we do have pets, a big 75 lb pitbull dog who has made him sleeping area the patterned couch!! A teacup chihuhua (who doesnt get on the furniture unless she is put there and 5 cats, who dont lay around too much on the couches, except at night, I have throws EVERYWHERE. I did just get an experimental packet of "soft claws" they are pretty cool, not sure that I'll have any willing participants, but I'll have to figure out the worst scratchers and attempt to apply them. and yes, I do have scratching posts all over so why they feel the need to stretch on my couch, I have no idea. one gets frisky on the rug but JUST underneath the coffee table, so I dont always see her. UGH. So I guess the consensus is to pass on this one and I will. I'll get DH to go out again next week and see if we cant find something at the other store. OR we may go back to the store in Macon and get there with more than 30 minutes to look around!!!! As always, thanks for your input and advice.

Yes, writers, I meant semi-detached loose back cushions. I wondered if they'd really bother me after I actually lived with the loveseat, or if I'd get used it. I do rotate my back cushions now, but am not sure if I'd miss doing that. Funkyart, I saw the M. Stewart upholstered at Macy's. It was ok, I guess. I can't name exactly what I didn't like about them. I visited a PB outlet once. A lot of the case goods were totally splintered and broken down. I'll never buy PB wood stuff. The decor items, de-merchandized and overflowing, looked like so much "stuff" that you wouldn't want. I don't recall seeing any upholstered items. I do see them on craigslist, though. One thing that bugs me about inexpensive upholstery is the way the foam deforms. Down sags, but in a nice way. I don't know how to tell whether a particular foam is going to dent and harden badly, and whether a particular fabric will crush in a non-complimentary fashion. My down sofa with cotton tapestry cover ages nicely. Cover and cushion just sort of mush together. OTOH I had a faux velvet 1980s sofa on which the foam grew unresilient -- I kept trying to push it back into square but it had lost it's memory-- and the welting of the faux velvet didn't move in the same direction. It just looked bad, and not in a good way. I keep thinking that if I got the right kind of foam and somewhat good fabric thngs would be ok. But they don't talk about the kind of foam used, and I'm not sure how "good" the fabric would have to be.

Annie — there is now just one pillow in the room, so it goes on whichever chair is available! Allison, it’s not inexpensive, but I got it from Room & Board. I also have a small one (20” I think) which I’ve had for years and it’s held up really well — we sit on it, put feet up on it, pile books on it. They’re on casters, which are invisible, so easy to move around. They also come in leather and regular fabrics.
