Well Made Smaller Scale Sofa/Loveseat?

It seems impossible in the Baltimore area where I live to buy a smaller scale sofa, loveseat.

I prefer only 33 - 34" high and no more than 88" long for the sofa, and no more than 66" for the loveseat.

I prefer a less bulky look since it's a small room.

I was thinking that the only place I could find these is in New York City where everyone lives in small apartments?

Help! Someone, somewhere has to cater to apartment-size furniture.

Lee Industries has a sofa called "Apartment Sofa" which may work for you. If you do a search on this forum, you'll read a lot of good things about Lee.

Yup look at Lee - I just bought 2 sofas (waiting form them to be delivered next week). One is 86" long and the other is 75" long. Style 3188. It's the height you want too. I went w/less bulky b/c I wanted to do 2 sofas in the room. I only hope though it doesn't look squatty in my room b/c I have 9 1/2 foot ceilings! I ordered this sofa in a carmel/topaz color.

KAT, I think you nailed it!! DH even commented tonight, when I was going through a circular from another store I stopped in (after seeing this couch set). he says to me, you like everything. And I tell you, I do, I mean really the only thing that I dont like is anything too big and poofy. I guess I'm just style impaired, not really knowing what is considered formal etc. I just see something and if it appeals to me, I like it. I told him, I guess I'm just not hard to please :) And yes, we do have pets, a big 75 lb pitbull dog who has made him sleeping area the patterned couch!! A teacup chihuhua (who doesnt get on the furniture unless she is put there and 5 cats, who dont lay around too much on the couches, except at night, I have throws EVERYWHERE. I did just get an experimental packet of "soft claws" they are pretty cool, not sure that I'll have any willing participants, but I'll have to figure out the worst scratchers and attempt to apply them. and yes, I do have scratching posts all over so why they feel the need to stretch on my couch, I have no idea. one gets frisky on the rug but JUST underneath the coffee table, so I dont always see her. UGH. So I guess the consensus is to pass on this one and I will. I'll get DH to go out again next week and see if we cant find something at the other store. OR we may go back to the store in Macon and get there with more than 30 minutes to look around!!!! As always, thanks for your input and advice.

To each his own. I will never buy a sofa again. People want an armrest, not to be STUCK in the middle. A love seat gives the look of a sofa vs a chair and gives everyone what they want, their own space when sitting. Only two will ever use a love seat or a sofa--unless they have NO CHOICE. I would go with whatever fits. If you have the room why not the 88"?

Then by the sliding doors I’d angle a chair like this...something comfy to sit in but not a huge footprint or too “heavy” feeling. Try thinking keeping the room more open and lighter since it’s on the small side for a tv room. You can do it without sacrificing comfort. I had a small mid century ranch and I made my corner bedroom a tv room since I didn’t want a television in my living room and it was smaller than your room. I had an Ikea Karlstad sofa with a chaise end on it, a credenza for the tv and a small side table and this chair. The scale of everything worked and it was still comfortable.

@Patricia Colwell thanks! Our TV is in the corner in the bottom right of the bottom picture (you can see our daughter there). We’re doing a corner fireplace there as well. So would you suggest leaving the sofa where it is and doing two chairs where the loveseat is now? Like this pic?

I cannot thank you enough for this information about Lee sofas.

There is hope. I wouldn't have minded if there were more options. And I was actually planning to go a store in New York City called Room and Board to find what I needed.

It's much more difficult than I thought to get a sofa with a lower back and with a streamlined look.

I hope the Lees are comfortable to sit on. Sometimes with a smaller scale sofa, there is not enough depth to the seat cushion which makes it uncomfortable for a taller person like me) to sit on.
Thanks again. I'll check the seat depth against my current sofa.

just went through this myself. I ended up with 2 sofas from Cisco Brothers, a California company that is not that well represented in the northeast. I wanted a mid century modern look, but since I needed 2 sofas, I couldn't buy higher end and didn't want shoddy quality. I absolutely love them, they're gorgeous and sized just right for a 40 yr old home that's not huge. Check out Cisco's website and see if can find a dealer locally...the website really doesn't reflect well on their wonderful products. My sofas measure about 33 inches tall, 83 inches wide...not sure if I measured the inside seat depth properly, but I'm getting around 22 inches. I ended up ordering mine through a interior designer who knows their products well, and she gave me the same price a local chain was offering and better service, I might add. Good luck, I spent more time on this than I'd like to admit, so I appreciate the difficulties you're facing.
