Joanne, Foliar feeding refers to feeding plants through their foliage. The idea is to spray with fertilizer water and the plant will absorb the fertilizer through their leaves. It was very big several years ago but it was always controversial. Everything I have ever read cast doubt on whether plants could absorb food in this way. There may be current info on this but I have never seen it. I do know that some still practice foliar feeding but mostly on outdoor plants. I don't recommend feeding violets this way as they do not take kindly to cold water sitting on their leaves. You have to spray them with hot water which will cool by the time it hits the foliage. Then you have to hope it dries quickly. Not worth it, imo. Tea adds the same thing as any other plant material: organic material. Good for outdoor plants but I wouldn't use it on my indoor ones. Krista- Thanks...it was very good pie. My mom uses lots of brown sugar and cinnamon and the apples are a little tart, so great combination :) Rosefolly- Sorry, I don't know what kind of apples they are...the tree has been here for at least fifty years (it's in some of the old pictures) and my husband's grandmother, who planted the tree, passed away before we moved out here. The apples are smaller than normal, but bigger than crabapples. They're a little tart, red with a bit of yellow and green, even when ripe and they ripen in October. They also don't have worms, which I've heard is unusual in our area...but I don't know if that has anything to do with the type of apple tree.

Well now all the Turkey is gone, I have done my Black Friday shopping, my GD got to spend the week end with me we had a blast, she got many deals, after being stuffed with Turkey & her favorite Lemon merange pie for dessert all the dishes are done, now we can relax get ready to trim the Christmas tree tommorrow, since a third of my Christmas shopping is done, I Love it Elizabeth

glenda_al, your son looks happy enough to pass for Parke Jr! I'm betting it's a good match. :) We'll be doing our usual trek out to my sister's place in Massachusetts..... always a traffic holdup at Thanksgiving, so will likely be a 5 hour+ drive. I have to finish getting packed and ready... She's a cooking/baking phenom so whatever I bring there will already be two or three of the same there. I'm keeping it easy on myself this year and just bringing cranberry sauce, gluten-free brownies, and lots of her favorite wine -- because they don't sell it in Mass! Happy Thanksgiving everyone! (can't believe the holiday season has started already!!!!)

Can't these off topic, silly conversations be put in the Hot Topics Forum or the Kitchen Table Forum? There is a place on this board for this stuff and it is not in the Buying and Selling Homes Forum. I hate unintentionally clicking on silly threads like this.

Discussions about controversial holidays with everyone trying to get their point across belong on the hot topics forum, not here!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I'd really like to see an off topic / conversations section here, I know I'd use it. A lot of us have been around for a while, I'd love to be able to chat about things other then selling my house.

BTW, please start sending the selling dust my way after next week. We went to our new house the other day, we're looking at a possible January move. I've mentioned my hubby's accident, I'll be in the hospital from Monday - Friday; plus my daughter fractured her wrist the other day. The house being ready in January wasn't what we wanted to hear right now... lol

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all!

Last year, even though we were in a new state with no relatives or friends around, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. We had found out two days earlier that our house in SoCal had finally closed escrow (after a week of unexplained delays on buyer's part). Getting that news made it a very thankful day indeed.

Today we are in our house in Oregon, snug and happy and awaiting the arrival of my brother-in-law from Maine tomorrow. And thankful we're not selling in SoCal this year.

I went to the suggestions forum and asked for a conversations side. Those that would like to give input, please do. This will allow those that want to talk about things other then buying & selling to do so, as well as those that don't like to see off topic posts, now won't have to.
