Bittersweet Wreath Hanging & More Fall Decor
Comments (15)Thanks for your gracious comments, "holiday-ers!" Yes, that bittersweet lady was quite a character! ...and I will think of her each time I use this wreath...I hope it dries & keeps for me...glad you enjoyed her story, too! luvs...yes, it is fun to decorate more for the seasons...enjoying this forum so much. OA...I can't remember the name of the dried stuff with the hydrangeas..darn, I needed to write it down. Bought it at the Farmers' Market that DH & I sell at. Thought it was quite beautiful...could be hung, too. The candleholder is from one of the home decorating parties probably 35+ yrs ago...I have loved the look of wrought iron or matte black metal finish for yrs. Can you believe I have 2 of these candleholders that used to hang on dining room wall with black chain draped from one side to the other...and in-between were 3 ceramic "Musketeers!" Must find that pic to share! I made the muskies at ceramics class in the early 70's. ladypat...yes, I bought "plants" ...male & female...& the non-invasive kind...so we shall see, uh? Thanks for info. Thanks nana, frou, lynne, party, punk, karen, jay...passed on compliments to DH, too...appreciated! Hope the bittersweet will come to those who love it! Jeanne S. jane...now on the lookout for a white plate or platter for white dishes on porch top shelf...I knew it needed height...but my turkey platter was too big! Thanks for the suggestion...more shopping ahead! tee hee frou...pic on ledge in the "bat frame" is about 30+ y-o...our kids! A fav pic of mine....See MoreWhat should we do with this corner? Augh....
Comments (6)My blind corner, as it's designed, is a great solution for pretty limited applications. I only store stuff that I need infrequently on the sliders. The main cavity of the cabinet is great for tall or bulky items (like Costco's jumbo pack of toilet paper, 50 lbs. of dog food or the enormous crab pot). But I definitely don't have it configured for heavy every day use. If I were using my blind corner for pots and pans like remodelfla suggested, I'd make a few changes. First, I'd hinge the door on the other side so that it swung 180 degrees out of the way, and I'd install a rack for holding lids or foils and wraps or something useful (but lightweight) on the door. On the inside of the cabinet, I'd put hooks or pegboard with hooks on the side wall opposite the sliders to hang skillets or smaller pans that could remain in place when the sliders pull out. I'd probably look into a short rolling pullout mechanism to install on the floor of the main cabinet to pull out of the way for the sliders (you'd just need to make sure it pulls out far enough and that the lower slider would clear the tracks of the pullout). I think there are probably a lot of creative ways to improve what I have for more active storage. You'd just have to plan carefully to make sure everything you add clears each other in open and shut positions. I'm a huge fan of the Container Store and they have lots of creative options that you could combine. Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreDumb question- How to hang lighted wreath on door?
Comments (4)Here's what I've always done... I hang my garland and my wreath. Hopefully, your outlet is at the doorknob part of the door but, if it isn't this still works, you'll just need more lights. Thread the lights through the garland so they end at the hinge side of the door. Then, bring the lights up to the level of the wreath. Thread the lights through the wreath. The end of the lights (whether you use 1 string or 2) should end on the wreath. The only connection between the wreath and the garland is at the hinge side of the door and will not be affected by opening and closing. If you're not putting a garland around door, then just start and string your lights up to the wreath on the hinge side of the door, wrap the lights around the wreath and end them there. Hopefully, your outlet is on the hinge side of the door. If it isn't, just run the lights or an outdoor extension cord so that the lights start at the hinge side of the door....See MoreHow to Hang Wreaths on Mirrors
Comments (17)Target and Home Depot always have a large selection of Command Hooks. I began using them three years ago when I started hanging vintage wooden stocking stretcher instead of regular stockings (mantel photo below). I bought clear, but the ribbon is tied in a loose knot and goes over the hook. Wouldn't show otherwise anyway. I also use on a wreath over mirror....See Morejones123_123
