You have a very nice room! You just need a little tweaking.

I'm wondering about the drapes. Do you need them for privacy? If not, I'm wondering how it would look to have only 1 outer panel on each window. If that would work, I think it would give that space some width.

Also, I think you need something larger over the fireplace.

And, if possible, I'd get rid of the small bookcase/cabinet. From the picture it looks a bit crowded, but that could be just how it appears.

You have a beautiful, warm looking room! You already have the big ticket items done (molding, drapes, etc.).

I think you could use some bigger pieces above the fireplace. The mirror looks too small there, as do the candles and clock. Maybe a bigger table by the chair to the right of the fireplace, with a lamp. I don't see a single lamp in your room.

You've done a nice job so far.

The drapes are for privacy at night (that room faces the street) as well as for blocking out the sun in the early afternoon. I could use just one though on each out side, they are wide enough that they would cover the width of the window.

I agree now after looking at my space in the pictures that the mirror is too small. I will have to look for some accessories for that mantle.

My biggest challenge is what to do with the wall where the TV is. It looks like a big eyeball to me but I don't know what I should put there.

And you are right, there are no lamps. I got rid of the lamps, end tables and coffee tables when my kids were little because I was always afraid they'd get hurt. My youngest is now 3 1/2 so probably time to put some "adult" stuff back in.

It looks like the bookcase is a matching piece to the console. Is this so? You could try moving the console to the right and putting the bookcase to the left of the TV, if there is room and it wouldn't block your view of the flat screen.

If that doesn't work, put a floor lamp to the left of the console.

Yeah, you need some height on that TV wall to balance the big black TV. Ideally, I'd see if I could get a matched pair of narrow shelving to stick on either side of the console to make it feel more like your TV is in a nook, but that would require centering everything on that wall and might interfere with traffic flow. I think even adding the bookcase like parma suggests would make a big difference. If you move the console over to the right a bit and stick the bookcase on the left, you can add a tall accessory on the far right to add a little more height to that side as well. I also think the TV is hung too high, can you move it down a little? The rug looks a little small for my taste, I'd get the next size up and get it under the front legs of the sofa.

I would raise the drapery rods so that they are about halfway between the top of the window and the crown moulding. You have the transoms and taller doorways, and the windows end up feeling kind of squatty with the drapes hung right at the top of the frame. You can use clip rings if needed for more length.

I would turn the rug the other way, parallel to the couch - it looks too small the way it is running now, compared to the width of the couch. Add a floor lamp to the right end of the sofa by the wall, and slide the couch a bit more to the right - it doesn't have to be centered in front of the window, and will give the room the feeling of more walking space move over to the right a bit.

Take the tall cabinet and put it on the left side of the console cabinet, to create the feeling of a larger entertainment unit. Take the big plant off the top and add a nice plate on a plate stand up there, perhaps a pair of candlesticks or a smaller ivy plant. Take the single chair and put that on the right side of the cabinet, as extra seating. Add a lamp on the right end of the console by the chair. Something in red, either the lamp or the shade, would be nice to bring some red to that side of the room. The height of the lamp will balance the height of the taller cabinet on the other end, and also provide some warm lighting for the person seated in that chair.

Try bringing in the two wing chairs and putting them at a soft right angle to one another down at the right side of the fireplace. A round table and lamp between them would be a good addition.

A fabric ottoman that could act as a coffee table and extra seating would be nice in front of the couch. Something narrow and simple in design, or even a pair of the square ottomans in a bright red or rich moss green would work.

The mirror is great, but too small. Try to find a large piece of art, or even a pair of framed pieces. The mirror will only really reflect the tv, so not a bit bonus to have a mirror up there. Add some taller candles in holders, perhaps the vase of grasses currently on the hearth.

Once you bring the lamps in by the couch and wing chairs, you likely won't need a lot of art on the walls on either side of the fireplace, but wait and see for sure.

You have a great start in the space - just need a few things to pull it together.

For $300 I would turn the rug around, get bigger decor for the mantle and the console. Your things are too small. Get lamps and an ottoman. If you shop right, you can find it all. Buy a used ottoman and reupholster it yourself.
Since you said you didn't like the tv, I've seen where they hang black/white pictures in black frames/white matts around the tv. Some bigger some smaller. The tv gets lost in the group. It looked nice.
