I feel the same way - what ever happened to her show? I watch HGTV all the time, when I have time, and have not found one crafting show.

I agree..the powers that be at hgtv, need to get on the ball and produce a few craft shows!! I loved Carol Duvall and I also miss Debbie Travis' "the Painted House"...so loved that show!

I used to watch Carol, too, when I had cable..hate to hear she's no longer on the air.

I don't even know why I like those crafty shows cause I don't do crafts at all. lol

HGTV does have "That's Clever" a crafting type show but not near as good as Carol Duval.
I miss Joan Stefffend and the old Decorating Cents. The new Decorating Cents doesn't do the Trash to Treasure segment. I don't watch it often. Design on a Dime does have many DIY Craft projects on the show and I've used a few ideas from there.
I do miss the crafting shows the T2T shows.

When we moved to WV, I was SO happy to rediscover the painting guy. No idea of his name but he has the brown afro hairstyle and the MOST soothing voice. He is perfect for an afternoon nap! LOL

The painter guy's name is Ross. I'm pretty sure he passed away many years ago.

Yes, HGTV has really gone down hill......loved Carol Duvall, the gardening shows, etc. Now it's just getting your house ready to sell, and they are all so silly on there, with their cutesy ways and chatter.

I agree HGTV has gone down hill. I also miss Room by Room, as well as Carol and Joan. I do like House Hunters and House Hunters International, it's fun to see properties in other locations.

Oh no Matti, Room by Room is gone, too?! Well that does it, I was thinking about getting cable again and making sure I paid extra for HGTV...guess there's no need now. :(

Janie, our PBS station shows reruns of Bob Ross' Painting Shows..I still watch sometimes and will always think of his voice and spirit as soothing. He died too young for sure.

I was working when Carol Duvall shows were on, so I recorded a lot of them, but after I had seen the recordings so many times I deleted all of them except one. I just wanted one to hang on to. I loved the Shoebox craft ideas.

I also miss Room by Room and Rebecca's Garden. HGTV used to be almmost the only channel I watched, but I can't tell you when the last time was I did watch it. There's not much there to hold my interest any more.

I miss all the "good old shows" that used to be on HGTV, also. I loved Simply Quilts as well as all the others mentioned above.

I have watched some of the shows now on which are about buying & selling homes & redecorating, etc. They are interesting, but just to a point. The thing that has struck me so often is that these folks must be bazillionaires. First time home buyers spending a quarter/half of a million dollars for shack that has been "prettied up", for example. And gawd forbid that you would even consider buying a house that did not have granite counter tops, or that has wallpaper. Oh & it might be new construction, but we must turn up our noses if the master bath has "builder grade" in it. That elitism is a turn off for me & I think it sets up very unrealistic expectations. No wonder people get in over their heads with home mortgages & credit card debt!

Please, everyone - go to the link below and send them an email of complaint - if enough people do it, they will reconsider. I am sad that they took Paul James off, too.

I used to like House Hunters but they have run it into the ground. I like the ones that fix up the houses because they have a lot of good ideas.

Having been a long time viewer of HGTV, I couldn't agree more with what you're saying. I like the home improvement type shows that are for people keeping the house instead of putting lipstick on a pig to sell it.

My only complaint is that too often they utterly destroy fixtures that could be donated to Habitat for Humanity or even sent to a salvage yard for people who appreciate things other than granite countertops! I would love to have some of the cabinets I've seen broken into a gazillion pieces.

And Paul James gone, too? Geeze Louise!

I'd like to see more salvaging done as well, not only of older homes, but of materials which can be recycled in many ways..too sad and very wasteful. :(

I agree,HGTV has gone downhill.They seem to think we need to see all those million $ plus homes that most of us couldn't afford,and how they decorate them.Or how to find a house in some foreign country,now how many of us are looking for those.Give me a break!!

Give us back Carol Duvall,Paul Janes,Kitty bartholomew,etc,etc.

There are no more sewing,craft,gardening shows on there anymore.

Oh and it irritates the he** out of me when i see them go in and smash perfectly good cabinets ,counter tops etc,and just trash them.What happened to recycling??

I also hate to see it when they smash up good stuff. They seem to think it is a humorous thing to bang and rip things to shreds - then go on to tout the fact how "green" the reno's are - GOOD GRIEF! If they were really going "green" they would have left the stuff there!

I miss Carol Duvall, too. I sometimes catch her on the DIY channel but it is usually early in the morning. I Googled her and found that there are a ton of links for her shows and I found this information that HGTV forced her to retire because she is too old. Really! How rude. She really is like an old friend and neighbor and I miss her.

I loved Kitty Bartholomew. I remember when she and Carol were regulars on "The Home Show" on ABC. If I remember correctly it was on in the mid to late 80's, Monday thru Friday (mornings in my area). I loved that show!!!

Have to join in here...I too miss Carol, Kitty, Bob Ross etc. HGTV has really gone way downhill. I used to watch it all the time but now I can't stand it. There are no shows for everyday crafters/artists. Even the show the was mentioned "that's clever" drives me nuts as it is so stupid and "acted". I tried to watch it a couple of times but it drove me nuts.
There are no more everyday gardening shows either which I miss.

I know what you mean. I used to love the gardening shows on HGTV, plus Carol Duvall's crafts and quilts. Now all they show are real-estate related shows. I've totally turned off HGTV; now all I watch are cooking shows on Food Network.

I sent an e mail asking them to put the gardening shows back on, but.....

I didn't watch Carol Duvall but do miss Simply Quilts. I agree HGTV has gone overboard with their real estate craze.

OMG...do I miss Carol Duval??? I loved her show and used to pick up some of the best ideas. I can give you one further back that that.....Aleens. Did any of you watch her show? Actually Aleens message board was one of the first message boards I ever belonged to. There were so many nice people there.

ann_in_florida....I REMEMBER that show also, she and her daughter! Gee I am getting "homesick" for those programs now LOL!! You could always get inspired by them.

Yup.remember Aleens also.Think i have some Carol Duvall,and Aleen,and simply quilt tapes in my craft cabinet.
