CL Rug - Under my DR table?

What do you think about this rug? It's on CL for $85. They're saying it's new in the packaging still. Was over $300 from the store. I like the rug but what do you think about the whole setting.

I've been debating whether or not I want a rug for under the DR table. A 5' x 7' or 8' rug is too small size to ahve all the chairs fit under so I'd imagine I need to bump it up to an 8' x 10' ish. That will take up a large portion of the floor visually though. I plan on recovering the chairs to this fabric.

I'm undecided about the patio doors and island until I get the above chairs recovered.

I'm in the middle of aging these stools beause they're too stark.

OHhh and one more thing.... after looking at a new thread again about pic frame moulding I want to do that too! (white on bottom) Is that doable on the DR side? I'm determined to learn basic carpentry skills dangit! :)

That is a beautiful set and so unusual to find a round antique dining table. The inlay is just lovely. I do think there is a premium for getting an antique set with 8 chairs intact so I agree the price is probably fair, though it being CL, I agree I'd probably try to make an offer--though I'd probably start around $1,200. Seller could take offense if you want to knock the price by 1/3 and not even show it to you. How long has it been listed? I'd find out more information about the condition, age, etc. before deciding on an offer. Have you checked the measurements for your room? Would you use the chairs as is or reupholster them? Post another pic of your lovely DR so we can picture it there.

I like the chairs very much, although your table is so magnificent that I see it with a bit more of a formal chair. But, I also think Parson's chairs wouldn't 'stand up' to the beauty of the table. Have you tried them for comfort? I ask because the seat does look comfy, but the back looks very straight. I'm eclectic myself, and am wondering if you'd leave the chairs as is, or paint them before you had your seat covers and tie-on back cushions made? Do you have any fabric ideas? I play around with re-doing chairs, and I love the ones you're considering, but would try to get them for less than $75 each (if the set is 4 chairs). With the 'wings' on these, I would probably just recover the seat, rather than have a long skirted cover, so as not to compete with all that is going on at the top. I bought two of these recently and paid $25.00 for the 2 of them. I did this to them. so you can see what a different paint and fabric can make. Considering that your table is extra heavy and not likely to be moved, I would offer this to think about: Depending upon the type of leg on your table, keep in mind if you do not move the table off the rug occasionally, you run the risk of moth infestation under the legs. The worst damage I see from my customer's rugs are in areas just like you are describing, where heavy furniture is rarely moved. conanc: you might find the link below helpful. I think you have chosen the most popular size. amy: I'd love to hear more about your Flor tiles...especially in use under a DR table with chairs scooting back and forth. I would take the leaf out since I don't find square tables to be very aesthetically pleasing and I'm not sure if a round rug would look good. With a rectangular rug you'll have a wealth of styles to choose from and I think the room will look very nice that way.

Threed - It's not far from my work.

The person says they have more than one of each. Not sure what's up with that.

Here's a quick shot of what an 8 x 10 size would look like. Part of the rug would stick out into the doorway visually. Is this ok? It would take up most of the floor on the DR side. Wide wise it would be from the tape measure to the wall.

You should leave about 1 ft. of floor from the wall to an area rug. It wouldn't need to be exactly a foot, but It will look better with some floor surrounding the rug, than right up next to the baseboard.

The rug will look wonderful with your fabrics.

Does your dining table have leaves? What's nice about getting the bigger rug is that in the future it would work with a bigger table or in your LR if you wanted to change things around.

The table doesn't have leaves.

I remeasured and actually centered the tape with the table this time. It will be 9" from that main wall. That also brings it over infront of the entrace even more though. Since this isn't something I can return I'm trying to make sure I don't screw up.

Do they have a square size - maybe 7'x7' or 8'x8' or a round rug?

I have that exact same rug in my dining room right now. I got it at Lowe's and it cost $338. I have sold my cherry dining room set and am looking for one about the color or yours, so I think it would be perfect. Please show pics when you get it!
