I'm quilting again

After a summer of fighting weeds and other things that get in the way of fun stuff I'm now back to quilting. One of my goals last year was to finish some UFO. Here is one former UFO.

That's very pretty. I love the colors. It also looks difficult--all those points.

Yes that does look difficult. Very nice for a cat lover, the colors are purrrrfect!

Well I ended up going out today and buying a mattress, I've had it with the couch and delaying fixing the bed-- this forces it to be done so I went with the Temp Cloud Supreme. I just tossed a S&F-one of the ones you might be talking about. Beautyrest has their new "black" line, so S&F is revamping their line too now. To be honest, I've never seen or slept on a Kingsdown, I think that is the manufacturer for EA beds. (my buddy at EA says they won't work for a platform, you need the box spring to make it work. (Worse case I can return or exchange the Temp. The "heavenly Bed," I used to layover at all the Westins when UA owned them. They are ok, but you can load up your own bed to make it like that. I used to have a nice pillow top something when first out of college, then a thick featherbed from ScandiaDown, then NICE sheets, and a down quilt and pillows also from Scandia. I slept on that forever until my dog (no longer alive ) got sick and peed all over it. I think from that point forward, I have had trouble with mattresses. :( plus during that time I flew all over the world and started my career of jet lag ........... I am HOPING this one might work. and I sleep cold, husband does sleep hot, but always has to have a fan blowing on him year round - so he has to adjust. My sleep is more important. He can sleep on a brick uneven floor. He falls asleep in a minute no matter where and on whatever . HATE THAT SOOOO JEALOUS. I need ambien (doc prescribes it for you medical folks) every night for the last 20 yrs. (literally, my job has messed me up, at least I had 8 yrs of good sleeping with my line of work before the issues kicked in!,those were the days......bed is coming on Sunday, I'll keep you posted. I'll most likely still stay on the couch and air it out for a bit LOL!! (smell) I've had latex pillows before, they stink too. (smell) I did toss those, I can't ever change from down pillows!

I say NO! I use Warm and White on most all my quilts. I prefer it to Warm & Natural because I do not have to worry about the Natural making the white fabric darker or leaching stains. The Warm and White will shrink and you get that nice crinkle look and definition to the quilting. If you do not want that look, you may want to switch to the Warm Blend -- which I also like! I personally think it is difficult (and nuts:~) to preshrink a batting. There are other products available to purchase if you don't want the shrinkage. This is for the cute jammies quilt you recreated from a picture - am I right? Welcome home and back to quilting!

Well thanks Gang! I don't have great pix yet, but when I do ...! Special Hi to Foxy: nice to see ya & thx; I hope to 'speak ' w/ you in the next couple months abt getting a digital camera. OK then, it's an Exhibit by The City Quilter (my LQS) in celebration of the their 10th Anniversary. They've had 3,500 student classes & invited participants to Show. To my knowledge so far, it's not juried. It's at: The Williams Club 24 E. 39th St., NY, NY tel (212) 697-5300 open 8 AM to 8 PM runs from Jan. 15th thru' March 2nd. So it's opening next Tues, w/ a reception Mon eve, yippee! I have a cat pattern using snail trails that I want to make, but I have just begun the busy season so maybe after Christmas.

Realy neat. Did not see the cats the first time arould. Like the pattern but it looks like it would be a UFO around here forever with all those points. Nice job and great colors. TFS Jayne

Thanks ladies!

The pattern is called "Sawtooth Cats", designed by Janet Miller and put out by The City Stitcher. It is one of those patterns that comes in a zip lock baggie.

As far as I can tell the body of the cats are like the New York Beauty pattern, but I have never made a NY Beauty so I'm not totaly sure.

The points weren't too bad since it was paper pieced. I'm one of those lucky people who strated sewing curved pieces before some one told me they were supposed to be difficult so that part wasn't tough. I must say the borders were enough to drive me crazy after a while. The cat faces were supposed to be stitched on, but I cheated and used pigma pens. They show up well in person, but not so much in the picture.

This is the first quilt that I went totaly wild with the quilting. Normally I'm pretty blah with the quilting part. I tend to stitch in the ditch way too much.lol This time I did chains of hearts on the sashing, diamonds on the cat backgrounds, outlined the stripes on the cats and put one heart on each cat body.

Yep, this one is for me:) The quilt I'm working on now is for a baby shower gift. It's the Yellow Brick Road pattern that took a small detour.lol All I can say is if you are doing that pattern follow the directions to the letter. If you don't I have tips for saving the quilt!
