I love your plantings! The plantings alone really make the house look inviting and homey. Going practically lawn-less was a bold step since it looks like your neighbors are very conservative in their front yard planting preferring grass and evergreens. You did a nice job.

A new door would definately upgrade the house and a new windowbox of course. With the colorful front yard now in place, I would just do two tones of cream for the trim, and let the color come from nature with the plantings. A cream leaning towards yellow-ish would compliment the gray. A pop of red with the windowbox and patio chair would be all it would need.

I think you have an adorable home! Like Dilly says, painting the trim, which you already know and door are all I can see you need too. If you paint the railings, I might try matching them with the trim. One day it would be great to change the siding, but hey, you can only do what you can afford to do, right? Good job!

I like the landscaping as well and love the turret. I love the victorian homes (painted ladies) in Cape May, NJ and would draw some inspiration in colors from those. I would definitely go bold in my color choices.

Great idea about drawing inspiration from "the painted ladies"! In fact, I'm pretty sure there are books out there full of photos of those types of lovely (often bright and bold!) Victorians.

I will look at painted ladies for inspiration---I love the turret too---but since there is a real lack of "gingerbread" work it never occurred to me to use painted ladies as a model.

Can you guys please suggest more color schemes? I'm not happy with the cream trim now---I was hoping for more color. And also suggestions for a door color.

I'd like to remove the redundant house number, and find some more decorative ones---also a new light fixture and get a spiffy new mail box.

I agree that going bold is the way to go - and I'd probably go red! Red window trim, a red door, even paint the chalk board wood red. I think it would look great with the grey. I would probably get a whole new door, if you could, or at least new hardware. I would probably leave the porch railings black, but you could put some pretty red plants in the window boxes, and maybe even a red rocking chair or two on the porch! (Or am I going too far?)
I agree with getting a new mailbox. One to match the door hardware metal will make it all click. Use the same metal with your new house numbers and a new light fixture. I think copper would look great, and would look for some already with that green 'aged' patina.
You have done so much with the landscaping, I understand your need to have your house live up to it. Be sure to post your 'after' pictures so we can all see!

You have a great start to curb appeal with your landscaping. Beside changing the trim and door color, something that would make a big impact in change would be the front porch railing. It currently feels very dark and because it's so thin with the metal it gets lost against the weight of the house.

If you could afford it, I would look into changing it to a heavier wooden style. Similar to the one in cream that your neighbor has in one of your photos. That would also help to give you more of a painted lady style, and add more detail and color to the house when you can't change the siding.
