Negotiating post inspection

Is it silly to negotiate say a 500 dollar repair of something with a seller??

I am under the assumption, a reply to inspection sent to seller, with a request for fixing or reimbursement, is an alteration to the purchase agreement.... and that a seller can refuse and release the contract.

I am in a tight squeeze for housing, need to be out of current residence first week of Oct. closing on said property I will move into is same week. All seems to be going smooth. If its not this property for purchase, I will end up in an apartment at this late notice.

On the other hand the seller of the home im buying doesnt live on the property and has probably plenty of time to be able to break contracts etc because of repair and wait for another offer.

So again, Ive probably answered my own question, but is it plain silly in my case to be requesting repairs (Not major defects as far as I know) to be repaired?
