Well, I have to say I agree with the suggestions to examine the boyfriend.... I have had multiple pets all my life and any one who was 'about to reach his limit' because of jealousy or neediness or even frustration concerning a puppy or kitten behavior issue was promptly told that training the pet was easier than training him so bye bye..... he should be assisting you in finding answers instead of giving ultimatums. Now about the important party in all of this... the puppy.... I have 5 dogs ranging in age from 15 years to 4 months. Pets are like children, none of them are born knowing right from wrong and your pup needs further instruction in what you expect from her..... dogs actually respond well to instruction because it takes the guess work out of trying to figure out what they need to do to make you happy...... use her crate at other times than just when you leave.... do not make it a punishment , put it near you when you watch TV or have dinner....let her know it is just a safe place where she 'can be' until you have time to give her plenty of loving.....put 30 minutes or so a day into regimented training...you have to have the highest pecking order in the pack in order to get her attention..... in most cases, a dog says "no matter what I do, she loves me, she fills my needs and I own her", lol..... what you want is for her to 'earn' that extra attention ....do not start repeating commands in order to get her to respond.... state a command, give a signal that represents that command and if she responds, do not immediately shower her with love... calmly tell her she is a good girl....and if she does not respond, do not repeat....just place her in the position you requested...tell her she is good and repeat until she responds without you having to place her...... it actually only takes a few minutes a day and depending on how deeply you want her trained....then you just add new requests as she masters the old ones.... sit, stay, quiet, and NO... are the ones you HAVE to train her....mine also learn 'come', lets go, and go nite nite (for crate )..... whatever you do, do not feed treats to encourage action... a dog will learn that she only needs to behave when there is food involved.... My dogs do not have a fence, no restraints, and no longer use crates.....there are no bad actions... no jealousy, no accidents... and they are all stuck to me like glue unless I tell them to GO, SIT, Stay...and they will stay there until I tell them....OK come, lets go...... it can be done...and you will have a happier dog for your efforts....but effort is what it takes..... and trust me, they are easier to train than men....lmao

Hi thanks so much for all of the suggestions forboystoo: I was familiar w/ her paint post, but thx so much for linking - thats why I tried all the colors I listed (still wondering if its palladian blue or celery) I will email her and ask her your question as well assuming I can find the pic you spoke of on her portfolio. On her blog I do remember a post or comment where she indicates that because people pay for her services she is unable to give them out for free...which is why I came here for everyone's advice/thoughts! It's funny I have samples of all the colors everyone suggested except pearl gray so I think I may be on the right track to emulating the general feel of the room...trust me, this attitude is so i do not become obsessed! Thx for all the suggestions thus far, its made me feel like I am in the ball park! I also think the lighting is making whatever color it is look blue on the side wall and green near the light so i do believe it is a blue under normal conditions w/ a great deal of green and some gray in it! will let you know if she writes me back!

Flyleft I have the same kind of room in my house. Low light, northern exposure and I live on the Gulf Coast! It's sunnier than crap here almost all of the time, but we wouldn't know that from this room and it's our main living area. After testing all kinds of colors I ended up going with a medium grey. Nothing else looked good in this weird light. It uses the White Base with only raw umber as the colorant. I'm definitely affected by light conditions and it was a relief when I finally painted the room from the "light switch beige" it was before. I always steered clear of grey because I thought it was depressing, imagine my surprise! I used deep tones in my kitchen (peacock/marine blue) and dining (an almost black, blue). The Gamma Grey is a nice buffer. It's a very close match to SW 7065 (Argos). Walkin's suggestion to add shimmer to the paint sounds fantastic. Autumnal paint colors, whites, and beiges don't look good in my light conditions. I do have an orange couch and have a lot of those fall colors in my art and accessories.

Elmer, firstly, I wasn't disagreeing with you. Second, if you didn't notice I 'liked' your post. Third, my job is research on US vs other OECD countries - where we are doing well and where we need to improve. As to Google, it is actually a great resource that most people doing research at any level will use extensively. Even though I do this research as a core part of my career, I frequently learn stuff in comments from 'amateurs' on the internet who I frequently find know more about some particularly topic than I do. Finally, living somewhere can certainly give insight but rarely gives understanding. How many people who live in the U.S. understand why we have the highest road fatality and injury rates of all developed countries? Or even know that we do? Or understand our poor IAQ issues? I spend a lot of time outside of the U.S. doing research and it's important but I actually do not consider that very critical to most of our research. Now, alcohol. You have to look below macro level numbers. There is a vast difference in a population all having 2 or 3 drinks per day and one that has the same or even less per capita consumption but where half the population doesn't drink at all and the other half has 4-6 drinks per day. That's an extreme example but hopefully makes my point. What we are seeing is that in the U.S. the 20% heaviest drinkers are consuming about 73% of the total alcohol consumed in the country. In Finland the top 20% consume 67% and in France the top 20% consume 49%. When all of the numbers or run we find that the 20% heaviest drinkers in Finland consume the most, those in the U.S. are a surprisingly close second and those in France are a quite distant third (of these three countries). This even though per capita France consumes more (11.8 liters/yr) than the U.S. (9.7 liters/yr). Alcohol consumption in the U.S. is much more concentrated than it is in France. Is alcohol good or bad? There is increasing scientific information about the benefits of moderate alcohol consumption though we still don't fully understand why it's good. Perhaps a much better bit to consider is that if you look at the healthiest populations in the world (the Blue Zones of; Ikaria Greece, Sardinia Italy, Okinawa Japan, Loma Linda US and the Nicoya Peninsula Costa Rica) you'll find that one thing they have in common and that is believed to contribute to their good health is a few drinks of alcohol per day. (Loma Linda is a partial exception as they don't drink as much so there's research being done to see if there is something else providing the same benefit or if it's simply an issue of here are 11 healthy things - pick 9). How much alcohol is good and when is it too much? We actually don't know. Just when we think it has to do with someone's size or what they eat or when they drink relative to when they eat... we seem to find too many exceptions to call it a rule. And then layered on top of this are concerns about liability in the U.S. Science now seems to point to any alcoholic drink or most alcoholic drinks as providing similar benefits but among the healthiest populations it's almost purely red wine (which we use to think was the healthiest before deciding that it wasn't but maybe we should reconsider?). What we do know is that there is very strong evidence that 2-4 glasses of red wine per day appear to be beneficial. Similarly, there is growing evidence that any level of CO2 above 600ppm is not good. If so, then how bad is 610? Or 700? or 1000? For how long of exposure? Is any harm cumulative or temporal? And something interesting brought up to me this morning - can a glass of red wine cancel out any harm caused by sleeping in a room with 1200ppm of CO2? Now, I'm going to ride my bike to the pub for a healthy pint rather than continue to sit here drinking water.
