You know, the economy is affecting everything. Even young teens unable to afford a prom date. And proms are sooooo expensive these days. Glad she went to have a good time.

Thanks, Sheilajoyce. I never thought about the prom in relation to the economy, but you're right. Proms can be ridiculously expensive.

Proms are expensive. I just read an article in our paper about the cost. Our proms were held at the local Elks Club and didn't cost anything. Now you have to buy tickets. Some schools here have prom night at Disney. Costs $120 per person, but it includes a chaperoned bus ride to and from, dinner and the dance. The article said the kids were frisked (I assume for alcohol) before getting on the bus. I can see why there wouldn't be too many dates unless they went Dutch. Yikes--$240 a couple!

I love her hair and dress. Both mother and daughter are so pretty. And what great figures too. I know she had a great time at her prom even without a date. Times change things, and that is great she's independent enough to go with her friends anyway as a group.

Liz will be happy to know she looked like she belonged on a red carpet--the prom's theme was Hollywood!

Suzanne was only 17 when she had Liz. I'm very proud of her. She worked her way through college and has a great job. She's also in graduate school, going for her MBA. As you can imagine, they get the "sisters" comment a lot.

Susan, You should be proud. Not only are these two beautiful, it sounds like your daughter has become a very strong young woman. She is a good mom and is working hard to better her future. Your GD is absolutely beautiful and I love the color of that dress!

I agree with everyone else--wow, what a couple of beauties!! Your dgd looks beautiful in her dress and her hair is stunning.

I want to mention that my dd also went with a group of girls, as did one of her sisters; my middle dd went with a "date" who was just a good friend, with a larger group of friends. They all agree that going in a group is much more fun that just a single date. One more thing that I find funny is that it's perfectly acceptable for girls to go with a group of girls, but boys absolutely will not go with a group of boys. It seems that the girls all dance together (fast songs, of course,) but boys don't.

Wow! My sentiments echo everyone else...if your daughter was wearing a long gown I would not have known who was the graduate! They both are beauties and DGDs emerald gown and hairstyle was amazing. I have seen pics of you and you look many years younger than your actual age, so great genes obviously run in the family!

Shows how mixed up the world is right now when a beauty like that goes dateless. but I'm glad too that she went and had a good time maybe better than fighting off some aggressive guy.

I'm super-proud of both of them. When my daughter got pregnant at 16, it was not the sort of timing I had anticipated. But when Lizzie was born I was right there to help welcome her to the world, and ten years later when my daughter Jill died, it was a huge blessing to have Liz in our family. Liz and I are very close, and she will always be a treasured blessing.

And yes, that's her own hair. She inherited my hair--lucky girl! Also lucky girl, she didn't inherit my waist. LOL
