Granddaughter prom pictures (2)

Our granddaughter, Shaylah, went to her senior prom last night. She has lots of boy friends but not a boyfriend. Some of her girlfriends decided to go together. Here are a couple of the pictures I received from my son.

Oh Nita! She is just beautiful! Her hair, dress, face, everything is just gorgeous. I know you must be so proud of her. (you know how I feel about redheads!) lol

Just know she had a great time last time, boys on the side or not.

Lee, DD is quite comfortable & outspoken regarding her hearing issues, so I don't mind sharing at all (but I think it might be a good idea to remove her picture). Long story short, after several minor surgeries and continuing progressive hearing loss, DD's ENT did an exploratory - inner ears were a mess. The ENT referred us to a wonderful DR at MA Eye & Ear, who after a second exploratory, performed a Tympanomastoidectomy & reconstruction of her inner & middle ear. It consisted of removing a mastoid from a nerve, replacing part of the inner ear bones with prosthetics, reforming the ear canal and reconstructing her ear drum. She is slated sometime this upcoming year for another surgery on her other ear (although hopefully not as intensive). If I remember correctly, by the time her current Dr. got ahold of her, she had lost all, but in a slim range of hearing in one ear and 30% in the other. I had requested speech therapy during her early school years, so thank goodness her speech wasn't affected. As to her career in music production/enginneering, as you know, in addition to higher math skills, range of sound recognition, is first & foremost. She is slated to see her Dr. next month, we will discuss the feasibility of this career and see where her hearing is at (although at last visit, she could hear high/low tones and nuances better than normal, in her now good ear). Life is funny. Mari, thank you very much! Paige ~ great looking cake, I like the way the red looks almost airbrushed (is it?)! Shaking my head @ the cake being dumped - I don't know if that's sex related or age, I remember my girls & their friends doing those kind of things (deeeep breath). I'm not sure I'm old enough to be a mother of a bride -lol, but I'd love some help when the time comes!!! Sue, thank you and you are more than welcome. Thanks, everyoone, for all your nice comments! Suzanne was only 17 when she had Liz, so they are both young! She divorced Liz's father less than two years later, and I'm very proud of all she's accomplished since then. Except for blonde hair (well, mine used to be all blonde) I don't think I resemble either of them, unfortunately. I'm bigger all over, for one thing. And Suzanne inherited my mother-in-law's perfect nose (because I prayed for that when I was pregnant!). Sometimes, though, I catch a glimpse of my mother's family in Liz's face. You be the judge: Here's a picture of Suzanne and me from last year.

Wow! I'm glad I still have a few years to deal with this! I have 2 boys and a girl, so it will be interesting. Artmom, I think it's wonderful that you encouraged your son to go to the prom. I did not go to mine, and I have ALWAYS regretted it (22 years ago...). My DH didn't go to his, either, and has regretted it. Turns out we went to the same high school (didn't know each other) and we met a year later. We still talk about how much fun we would have had if we had met a bit earlier and had gone to our proms together!!! I hope all 3 of my children go to their proms...expenses and all.

Thank you all for you comments about how gorgeous Shaylah is. She gets great grades in school and plans on going onto college.

Leslie, funny you should mention Riverdance. She competes in Irish Stepdancing and is a beautiful dancer. Shannon says she has a heck of a time buying jeans because her legs are so muscular.

Oh that is funny Nita. She just looks like a pretty little Irish Lass. Sorry about the jeans problem she has. My oldest daughter has a problem too, because from her knees down is larger than the average womens. She inherited that feature from her paternal grandmother.
