I survived today...

It was just a consult. The Doctor was very nice, very concerned and just sweet natured. Oh and the accent didn't hurt either!!! Australian...looked like Rod Stewart.

I have the colonoscopy next Wednesday and he will also do an endoscopy too. All from the bottom end up to the throat. Gosh that's a long way to go! But I will be relieved. He will also put what he called a band on the old 'roids!!! I will be relieved to get rid of them I must say!

I didn't know they could go all the way from the bottom up! I guess it will save from having to back for another test! Good Luck!

I've been growing a couple Bananas in Pots for the past few years, but this past year was the first time I planted them in the ground. I left 1 outside, and brought two of them inside. I didn't go too overboard with using Xmas lights and makeshift greenhouses. I just left the Banana as is, and covered it and the ground around it with a couple bags of Mulch. I wrap the bottom 1-2 feet of the psuedostem with plastic wrap and put about 9-12 inches of mulch as filler. Now, I'm just waiting to see if it lived. Most of the psuedostem that I have seen/touched is kind of mushy. Any idea how long it should take to see some pups come up if the corm survived? I really liked Wilson's Idea with the mini greenhouse, so I just went out and put a few stakes in the ground around the corm and put some clear plastic over top to get the same effect. Denninmi, hi I'm also in MI and would love to try a musa basjoo, for a second time. Do you know of a good source? Even a small sprout? I bought one a couple of summers ago at Lowe's in the mid-summer, on clearance. It didn't get real big and I didn't protect it enough over the winter. I have not seen those at Lowe's again. I'll also check some local nurseries. I have palms too, that I'll be placing outside soon, they're in pots, but can't wait to try a banana again!

I think your clethra and hydrangeas should be ok. They both like water. If your soil drains fairly well, your roses should be fine, too. Good luck! I know it's frustrating to see our gardens in a state of disrepair - especially if we aren't able to go outside and fix it. I'm still lamenting the loss of some of my plants due to the cold. It happens. Hope your plants dry out enough for you to see that they are fine. You're thinking of raised beds, but I'm wondering - do you have a place where the water can drain off? Sometimes that's possible and sometimes it's not. If not, you may want to raise the beds (in the back) to where the water drains and doesn't just sit there. However, if you have good soil, it may drain well enough on its own. Wish I could help you more.

actually the tulips will recover....but not the bleeding heart. That happened to mine last year, I did get a little puny regrowth, and this year they are up and blooming but not as big as they were before the disasterous freeze. My advice? Don't do anything....whatever had happened can't be helped. You could cut off the dead stuff, but there's no point in that....at least the dead stuff on the ground reminds you not to walk of dig in that spot. My sympathy... Linda C

They don't go "all the way up." They'll go down the throat--down the esophagus to the stomach, and then up the rectum into the intestines. 2 different procedures.

You'll be fine; take a deep breath! I had the same procedures. It was two seperate procedures, but they did them both at the same appointment and under the same sedation.

The did the colonoscopy first. I started coming around while they were doing the endoscopy, but I was so groggy and disoriented I barely remember. They gave me another drop or two of the sedation and I was out like a light again.

You'll do fine! It sounds far worse than it is. The endoscopy made my throat sore for a couple days, nothing a lemon drop wouldn't help. The other had no effects at all.

Have plenty of water and something like Nutra-Grain bars to eat as soon as the procedures are over. You'll be starving.

And get some acidophilus-containing yogurt to eat for the next few days. It will help get the system back in condition much more quickly.
