I am about done with the top using my B&W shop hop blocks. Then I think I'll take a break from piecing and load a quilt on the frame.

We're going over to Lakeland (an hour or so) to DH's sister's on Monday afternoon for a cookout/get together.

I do hope to get some in, but the grands want to go to my parent's for a visit and SonIL is on call and can't go. So I guess that is where I'll be for most of the time. If I can't quilt I'll try to dig through my grandmother's closets and photograph her old quilts and jot down some notes about them. That should be fun but would it count as quilting?

I think quilting "research" counts, just like shopping for fabric this weekend counts. It's all the thought.

I hope to get back to my FMQ on the baby quilt. Only the borders left. I'm ready to get this kaleidoscope thing off the design wall and out of the way. It was just a teaching tool and I'm not really in to that one emotionally.

And, I will still dig through stuff all weekend trying to decide on a project for retreat.

I am babysitting a four legged kid, so can't go and do anything. Our DD and family and have asked us to watch her. I don't mind, she is a crack up and we usually don't have anything planned anyway.

No quilting or sewing today or tomorrow. Have been at Nick and Julie's all week and heading back to DD's tomorrow. She has a vendor table at the Blueberry Festival so we're going there for the ol' granny switcheroo. Heading out for a birthday bash later this afternoon for one of Julie's uncles at Ryan's Steak House. Monday I might think about getting the applique back out....I'm 3/4 done with the stems so I have been doing something on it. @:)

LindaOh....glad to hear your DH is able to be up and moving around.

Donna, Florida is sure warmer than where I am right now! It's freezing up here!!!!

Beverly, My nephew says that holidays are their busy times so he rarely gets to vacation then.

We have had a change of plans for the weekend. DS called this morning and said Christina is sick and they are not coming home till next weekend.
So, I will work on my September table runner. It has an apple applique this month. I have it cut out and ready to sew.

We are having a quiet weekend.I am finishing a scrappy 'Sunny Lanes' quilt. I hope get far enough to be ready to bind it.
It is getting cooler at night, but still hot during the day, so I plan to weed some.
October starts a really busy season. DH and I are having a fam cookout (about 40 people) for a nephew joining the army, sister is visiting from CA so another reunion, fam party for other nephew. All one right after the other in October lol!

I'm hoping to have a quilting marathon!! If I don't get some swap blocks done plus a round robin center (a 2nd one, not QB) & a couple of birthday blocks, I'm sunk! Would love to straighten out the sewing room - I think that's part of my problem. I really only work well in organization - clutter drives me nuts! (MY clutter - other peoples' clutter doesn't bother me a bit ----- it's theirs! lol!!!)
This cooler weather means DH wants me to work in the garden, but ... first things first! The garden I can work in somewhat w/little ones playing outside. I can never sew w/them around. Sewing room at the opposite end of the house from all the toys - & toys are BANNED from that room! That would be all I need in there...

After 6 weeks of no quilting I am quilting this weekend! I hope to have pictures to post by Monday of a finished lap quilt I'm making for my CEO's retirement party on 9/14. I cut and pieced the top today, and got the sandwiching done too. Tomorrow I quilt and may get the binding on too.

I finished a BD block yesterday. I cut it out 5 days ago, sewed the 1st seam on all 4 pcs and realized I made a mistake - The same darn mistake I make more often then I should-sewing with the dark on top when it should be the light or vice versa & it effects the order of the colors.
I had been rushing, trying to get to the Post Office before 'Earl'. So I recut and made it correctly. And....this was one of the easier blocks ~LOL~

Toolgranny, when you work the trains, what is it you do?

Labor day is my anniversary - after all these years (35), I deserve a Holiday!:)

magothyrivergirl, Labor Day is our anniversary also. I agree that we deserve a holiday, 41 years for me!
I plan to make another BD block today. I would really like to finish all the blocks for the year but not hopeful that it will happen this weekend.

I worked on Birthday Block today and it was perfect because I am feeling a little under the weather so it was nice to have a small project to complete.

OK, took the grands to my parent's Sat and came back Sunday night. Gonna have a picnic at my house today. Didn't get to go through my grand mother's quilts, but we did go to my great grandmother's old house and I found 4 abandoned, sad, BADLY worn and soiled quilts. Just couldn't leave them there, so I brought them home. There was probably a pound of dust and dirt in one of them. It is still hanging on the rail of the deck waiting for another beating. There is no way 3 of them can be repaired, but I will be able to use them as cutter quilts. The last one may be salvageable, we will see. We didn't make it up to the attic. Mom said there may be some more there and she will check later.

I also brought home the quilt I remember using as a child. My mother made it (she thinks she was 16) using chicken feed sacks for the back. It went on picnics, car trips, and sleep overs, and is so very worn. I love every ragged thread in it. I'm taking it to Camp Cheerio so it will be included in the quilt show. But then it has to go back to mom's.

I did make some progress on my Redwork while I was there. I guess it was a great quilt weekend.

Beverly, what treasures you have! Not everyone is fortunate to have quilts as part of their family history. You are a lucky woman!

My DH left yesterday afternoon for a campground to meet his paddling partner, get gear and food packed so they can get any early start today on their 8-day wildnerness canoe. I'm feeling a bit lonely because I'm usually along on these trips so I'm keeping busy with a bunch of small projects. I made two pincushions and started a jean apron yesterday. Today I plan to finish the apron, pack up packages for my angelee and adopted angelee for a Secret Angel Swap so I get them to the post office early tomorrow morning. I'm also making a pattern for my block I'm donating for the quilt retreat thank you wall hanging. Oh, I also harvested parsley and made some pesto with walnuts.

After putting it off for way tooooo long, I'm putting on the borders of my round robin project. I'm not crazy about this quilt, mainly because a "surprise" fabric was added to the mix after we had decided how we were going to approach our projects. Oh well....

I want to look for fabric for the retreat quilt today also.

Today I put the borders on a quilt that I was working on last month. I also made 4 blocks this weekend, 2 b-day and 2 for the BOM at guild tomorrow night.

Not much quilting done here but I did have a good weekend with my DH ... cleaning the gutters, rushing our dog to the vet when she got a stick caught in her throat (she managed to swallow it by the time we got there but had her checked out just to be safe!)... a day at the Taste of Colorado listening to some good music & having some good food, reading and FINALLY tonight made 3 blocks for the September block lotto!
Goodness - Goals for quilting were there ... maybe tomorrow!
