Are you quilting this weekend? US Memorial Day

I made another twister quilt today. It's a small wreath, wall hanging size. Thank you new2quilting! I just had to try it after I saw your link yesterday.

Anyone else quilting this weekend?

Hi, Linda - I'm making miniature tops for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. Last weekend I made the first 4 blocks of Nancy Rink's Civil War BOM and it had a squillion stitch & flip flying geese and square-in-a-square pieces. I sewed the corners into HSTs as I was going, so yesterday I made 4 little tops from those HSTs, and I still have enough for 2 or 3 more. I also have a bunch of blue & yellow HSTs from a previous project. I'm going to work with those today.

DH may be putting up track lighting in my sewing room this weekend, too, so I'll probably help with that. And I may help with the yard work if he wants me to. He's been under the weather for a couple of weeks.

Yes I am! A friend stopped by as she was visiting "local artists in the area" (ya gotta love that one!) requesting donations for an auction to save their stained-glass window.
She isn't sure if it's in June or July. I'm not only working again but I'm on a deadline! WOW it feels good to rejoin the living!! Everything seems so new and exciting this spring...I just don't know which way to run first!!LOL!

Sunday night's storm was hard on the robins nesting in our yard. I discovered a nest and two cold blue eggs spilled into my lawn on my Monday morning walk. I should have been more attentive when Izzy went on an insistent point in the bushes a couple minutes later. The robins and neighbor children were horrified when her ignored point culminating in her grabbing a baby robin who, along with two siblings and the nest itself, had been thrown to the ground by the storm. I commanded her to "drop" and "leave it" and she obeyed, but protested loudly when I shooed her into the house while the neighbor lady and I assessed the damages and their kids worked themselves into a froth. We determined the nest was salvageable and wedged it tightly into the tree, out of reach of dogs biologically driven to find and retrieve birds and other predators. We sent the boy inside to fetch a serving spoon, and used it to scoop all three babies back into the nest. One had a minor dog-tooth scratch on its drumstick and I feared internal damage, but all three seemed alert. Several robins swarmed around us as we did this, protesting wildly. I peeked inside the nest today and was happy to see three beaks connected to three breathing bodies. More than two robins have been feeding this brood. I wonder if its not the couple who lost their eggs who are chipping in. I am relieved that Izzy used a "soft mouth" (which she hardly ever does) and that she alerted us to the situation so we could intercede. The birds are several days from being able to fly, and none would have survived on the ground had this not happened. Still, the chirping that erupts when she comes outside now is almost intolerable. The people across the street moved out last weekend. All the proximal neighbors were very pleased to see this. They were greeted with apple pie when they moved in and responded with frivolous and expensive litigation. They have frequent, loud, obscenity-laden arguments which can be heard from several houses away and wake neighbors sleeping with the windows closed. I wish them well, but even more so, I wish them distant. They sold their house to A Famous Person. It will be interesting to see how this changes things.

LOL!!!!!! I can't tell you how many times I type guilt for quilt and have to correct it!!! Blowing raspberries at Teresa for having working AC lol!!! please show us some pics of your tea wallets - I have started on a purse over a year ago and still haven't finished it. Yep, we are having T-storms and 85% humidity, tomorrow is going to be the worse. We are about like Altamonte, Fl - far enough inland to miss the worse of the storm. We need the rain so much - but the farmers are still harvesting onions. Sometimes in March we have winds that are stronger than I remember the tropical storms in FL. Donna, I remember going to the movies and the mall everyday for a week when we had the hurricanes in a row lol!!! I think being without AC is much easier than totally out of electric. If you have ever watched "Mayberry" you know what Glennville, GA is like lol. One friend moved here when his wife's fam needed help and he told DH it was like moving to a third world country lol!!!! Linda I want to see your Hungry Caterpillar quilts when you get them finished, my son loved the Hungry Caterpillar book when he was little. Sue I hope you enjoy your trip. I am starting to hand-quilt row #4 of my parents' Card Tricks quilt this weekend. Last week I collaborated with my good friend Christy and made plastic templates for a Kaleidoscope Quit that will be scrappy quilts for her and me to work on in the future. This week we are going RVing and will be taking a few Granny Square quilt blocks to hand-piece that will be part of a baby quilt I am making for my cousin's wife who is due this fall. I have a sinus infection and have started antibiotics for that and M-I-L who lives with us is sick with really bad back pains so I am on full kitchen and laundry duty this weekend. School is out and we are getting to sleep in in the mornings, ... all in all not a bad week, and I have the motorhome almost fully loaded, the bulk of it is done anyway other than just needing to load some last minute things the morning of the trip. I just completed and sent off to Texas a quilt for my greatgranddaughter. Today I think I will relax. Since I got up this morning I ran,I mean run and still didn't make it to bathroom. I sure hope I don't have the flu. I woke up once during the nite and thought I was going to throw up.
I have my moon over the mountain cut out so will start it next week. Have a safe holiday

I have several UFOs that I am working on. I switch from one to another depending on my mood - must be why they are still UFOs! LOL

I made a bunch of half square triangles this morning, but then joined DH in watching Indy 500. This is the only sporting event DH EVER watches, so it's a yearly event with home made pizza and a boutique beer of his choice.

The pizza was yummy! I think I need a nap, LOL - we rarely eat that heavily for lunch.

I seem to do better if I don't plan on doing any sewing!!

Today I've gotten 2 skirts done for DD(3yo), 1 skirt done for DD(9yo), elastic finished in 2 pairs of pj pants for DS(6yo), and binding cut and pressed for the 2nd raffle quilt I've been doing. [Once I get it sewn on, hopefully tomorrow, someone else will stitch it down! yea!]

Have a nightshirt for DD(9) still to do...been knocking things out!

Also planted some flowers & tomatoes today and some bean seeds...Still a few more plants to go after another trip to the store.
