Harvey Korman has died

He was 81. He had a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm four months ago, and died from complications. He'll be missed.

what a funny man he was. i used to enjoy him on the carol burnett show. as a matter of fact, i miss that type of show, nothing like it on tv these days.

For those that didn't see my other thread. I am OK. My husband and I and Mia were rescued by boat yesterday. Currently we are at a neighbors house that doesn't flood. We have no vehicles they are completely under water. Our house is now under water to the roof, total devastation. The Rv also took in water and is probably pretty full. The instructions given to all of us from the beginning was not to leave not to evacuate because we would cause road blocks and the ones on the coast being directly hit needed to be able to get out. This was not the track it was supposed to follow. This is of historical proportion we have reached the 800 year flood level. We passed the 500 years flood level. Last year we hit the 500 year level twice. We are dry, have food for now and safe. We have no idea what our future holds. We have no vehicle so we can't leave. Moving won't take much because we have zero stuff. So great to hear everyone is doing well. Terrilyn has anyone heard from her? My phone died in the rescue so I lost my phone numbers. Thanks everyone!

Just saw a very sad occurrence of six people killed in a van, and I hope you'll all be very careful when getting around, if you even can. I can't even imagine the anxiety and depression that so many must be feeling, especially as there seems to be no end in sight for this megastorm. I'm afraid there is no way this could have been prevented since so much of the cause involves global warming, and in the end we're helpless against these events, even though we have caused them. We in the U.S. have been one of the worst contributors to pollution that causes global warming, but to see all this suffering is awful, and it is the politicians I blame, not these people and their children and animals who are going through this nightmare. I just read in disbelief that some House politicians have voted to cut almost a million dollars in the new budget from disaster relief to help pay for the Wall!!! I am in total shock. Edited: boncrow, we posted at the same time and saw your heartbreaking message after I submitted mine. There are no words to tell you how sorry I am, nothing that will do justice to what you and so many others are going through, but I write this with tears in my eyes. All we can do is give whatever we can to help in the relief effort, and to keep you all in our hearts. May you stay safe.

The weatherman said it would start raining about 4:00 this afternoon. It has looked ready to pour since noon, I've heard some thunder but it is 5:30 now & just an occasional drop. Supposed to get 4-7", & closer to the 7" expected but I'm questioning that upper end. The chart the weatherman was showing, looked like all around us was getting about 3-4", don't know why Bowling Green would be "lucky" enough to get the 6 or 7". We got about 1 1/2" a couple days ago, so ground is pretty soggy already. Westbourne Homestead is liking the rain, I found a new scape yesterday, & another showed up today.

I'm sure this is the worst flood in Houston history, but I fear that it could happen again, due to the rising temperature of the ocean and Gulf. It even surpasses the 1979 flood when 43" of rain fell on Brazoria County, and that flood was not as widespread. I was in Houston from 1968 to 1972 while I was at Rice, and most of that time I lived on campus, but I did live on Hawthorne Blvd between Yoakum and Mt Vernon for one year. Howard Hughes grew up on Yoakum a couple of blocks from where I lived. A couple of times when my parents came to visit me, they got stranded by high water in streets, but they had taken the wrong streets. I also remember Hurricane Carla from 1961. Damage from this flood probably exceeds Hurricane Katrina, and it was dubbed the storm of the century - a title which lasted twelve years, I guess. And the Galveston hurricane of 1900 killed almost three times as many people as Katrina. I'm very happy that you were able to keep dry and I know it will take a long time to deal with the devastation around you. People here talk about earthquakes and say they are waiting for "The Big One" as if there will only be one big one, when in fact there are many big ones. They should instead say "the next big one" and understand that once a big one has happened, another big one can happen afterwards. I think the same is true with floods and hurricanes - if it can happen once, it can happen again, and that's why it's so important to be prepared.

The team of Tim Conway and Harvey Korman had me rolling on the floor more than once.

That's HEDLEY!!!! He did well with Mel Brooks too. Had forgotten so many of his characters. The old Jewish mother, the old man on the porch, all the movies. And so much more.

Definitely an underrated talent.

Harvey Korman, Tim Conway and Carol Burnett were a great team. When/If it comes out, I want to buy all their tv shows on tapes.

So sad to hear he passed away. I was lucky enough to see him & Tim Conway on stage here in Clearwater 3 years ago..what a night! They did the barber shop routine among others..laughed so hard my sides ached! He was undeniably a true comedy legend!

I loved Harvey on the Carol Burnett Show. I did a lot of babysitting in the 70s and loved watching that show on Saturday nights. Good memories!

Loved the man, too! What a team he and Tim were! Loved the CB show where Tim is the dentist and Harvey is the patient in the chair...he couldn't conceal his laughter at Tim shooting the novocaine into his own hand!

Loved him in Blazing Saddles (that's Hedley!!!)!!! I was a young gal of 17 then!!!!

And my fave is where CB comes downstairs wearing the green draperies, even the rod and tiebacks, sooooo darn funny (Gone With the Wind) and says to Rhett..."saw it in the window and HAD to have it" !!!

Miss him for sure!

Does anyone remember he was the voice of The Great Kazoo on the Flintstones? What a talent! They sure must be laughing in Heaven today. That's Hedley, not Hedy!

Oh, I loved that man. He was so funny. Nearly all the truly great funny men and women are gone now. Most of what passes for comedy now I don't find the least bit amusing.

I loved how he could never keep a straight face in the skits. He was so funny. I do remember that he was the voice of Kazoo!! LOL!!

I read that this morning when I brought in the paper. So, so sad. I just loved him & he was perfect with Carol & Tim. Comedy sure has changed over the years. I barely laugh at today's so-called "jokes". RIP Harvey.
