Has This Ever Happened to You????

I went to Dominos Pizza Friday night to pick up my order of 2 pizzas and 10 wings. The total was $21.29. That is the correct amount because that is our usual order. When I got there, it wasn't ready but I paid while waiting. One guy was ringing up the order ahead of me, but then moved a pile of boxes and another guy quickly came up to ring me up. I was chatting with him as he rang me up telling him how much I like the buy one get one free school fundraising card I was using. I gave him exact change and saw him first put the $1.29 in the register and he had the $20 in his hand. He walked past the counter with his hand near his hip, turned around and the $20 was gone. It could have only gone in his pocket!! The register will turn up short unless he is somehow voiding orders. I plan to call and speak to the store manager tomorrow or Monday. I think they have caller ID and I am hoping to call when he isn't there. I know there manager is a woman so there's no chance I will report him to himself :-) Just wish I got his name, but I can describe him and tell her the exact time I was there. My pizza boxes say $21.29, but I did not get a receipt.

Wow. Thankfully, that's never happened to me; and I'm sorry it happened to you!

Is this guy a new employee? Have you seen him in there before? I agree the manager needs to be informed, because I think the manager is ultimately responsible for what happens on her shift, and it wouldn't be right for her to get in trouble for what this other employee is doing. Too bad you didn't think to ask for a receipt after you saw what the guy did... Do you still have the pizza boxes showing the amount? You may need to give them to the manager.

From what you describe it certainly sounds like he pocketed the $20. I think you are right in calling the manager, you may stop the thefts before they get to be a large amount.
When I worked at a convenience store as a trainer, there was a period of time where the tills were always short every day. The manager came to the conclusion that someone was dipping into the till but it took quite a bit of sleuthing to figure out what was going on.
As it turned out, one man was ringing up sales and depositing the cash in the till properly with each transaction, but later in the evening he would take a lump sum out of the till and pocket it. He would then void enough transactions to equal the amount that he took.
We were all under suspicion for a while until it was sorted out. He was fired and charged with embezzlement as it was a large amount of money he had taken before they caught him.

Hey Mike, I have seen this before on my mom's Ponderosa lemon tree that I bought for her years ago. Even though she almost killed it by letting it drown, it is now finally recovering. I had to hack it and now it has TONS of new growth. Your citrus are always so beautifull!! It's kind of funny to me to see that what you can do with your citrus is what I can do with my plumeria!! I have to say though that my replacement Oro Blanco is looking pretty nice for being indoors for the winter and my Keylime is growing uncontrollably. I just hope I can get some good blooms off of it!! I don't get it but hopefully this will be a better year for it. I only have one fruit one it right now and it doesn't seem to be growing any. I found that if I don't hand pollinate it, no fruits. This is my least favorite citrus. My poor meyer doesn't seem to like the HPS light but I hock it up to having to be so close to the light itself. I am going to have to figure something else out for it next year. Andrew

Yes, not too long ago and ironically with Kale and Sausage Soup. I had diced the potatoes and added them to the soup and the soup was simmering for at least 40 minutes and the potatoes were still crunchy. I don't know what was going on but I've never had potatoes take this long to cook. We ate the soup with crunchy potatoes because DH would not wait any longer. Michelle

One time in my younger days, I was walking down the sidewalk and was passing a parked car. In that car was a young couple and a prattling baby. The man was in the driver's seat and the young woman was holding the child with her window open. Just as I pass by, the baby looking out the side window, brightens, and loudly coos, "Daddy, Daddy" in my direction. I was embarrased and kept walking, but I couldn't help notice the man looking at his wife, and then at me. These people were complete stangers to me, and I never learned what the outcome was - It could have been interesting.

Many years ago, I came home from a trip to find that the construction workers building a house next door to me had fried my electric meter and cut all power to my house. Luckily, I was a renter and my landlord had been notified. He had already cleaned all of the food out of the freezer and refrigerator and put in a claim for reimbursement for me. So the lost food part was pretty painless for me. However, the rest of the story wasn't much fun. You see, my return home was at night in pouring rain. I couldn't figure out why the garage door opener didn't work. I left the car in the driveway and, getting soaked in the process, entered the house through the front door to find that I had no electricity. I had no idea what was going on, so I left and spent the night in a hotel. Luckily, I had clean clothes left in my suitcase. It wasn't until I went to work the next day and contacted my landlord that I heard the whole story. I'm thankful that I owned no electronics back then so nothing was fried by the power surge. The refrigerator never worked very well after that, though. I donated it to a local charity during my next move.

Theft is becoming a huge issues in all sorts of stores right now. My son just got placed on a weeks leave WITHOUT pay while they are investigating the other person who he worked with one night. The other kid somehow managed let his friend steal something from the store. We don't know what. They said until the investigation was complete James could not return to work. All the people on that shift suffered the same fate. They fired the kid who let his friend steal. They have tapes that show that my son was not involved, nor was anyone else in the store. So sad that they are being punished too.

Bought one head of cabbage, and was charged $12.

Thank goodness I caught it before I left the store.

Please call the manager. I owned and ran a restaurant for many years. For a brief period of time our register was coming up short every 3 to 4 days. I met with my employees and told them I was aware that money was missing. Several people used the register so it was hard to pinpoint the problem. One of my customers noticed and reported to me that my employee was slyly taking cash. She would pretend to drop something to distract everyone, then she would stick the money in her sock.

Years ago when I was selling souvenirs we only had a small float and a twenty dollar bill was the largest we were allowed to take. When I left for break there were two twenty dollar bills in my cash and when I came back there was only one. I called the manager and told him and sure enough I was short twenty dollars at the end of day. They believed me because I used to balance practically every day and if I didn't balance it was only pennies I was out.

Unfortunately employee theft is at an all time high right now. I've seen it a lot where the employees "forget" to ring in the sales but charge you for items. Now I stand there and ask....aren't you going to ring it in?

Yes at a 711. I buy a coffee every workday morning and bring my own cup so it's 99 cents. This was not my regular 711 and when I handed the guy the money and he PUT IT IN HIS POCKET and never rung it up. I know it's only 99 cents but do you know how many coffee refills they sell a day? Lots! He could have been the boss....I don't know...but it turned me off and I never went back to that store.

About a month ago I walked in Home Depot to buy a bag of Seed Starter Mix. I had a twenty dollar bill in my hand. When I got to the self-check register the bill was gone, so I used my credit card to pay for it. I prayed I'd left the twenty in my car. It was not there. Some lucky customer or HD employee made an extra $20 that day. I am so stupid! I did not tell DH what happened.
