I raised my kids in the days of "no computer-cell phone-text messages"so I never had this happen but I do remember living in this big ole long house and being in the kitchen when my hub's would call for me....I'd trudge all the way to the livingroom only to have him ask me to change tv (in the time of dinosuar before remotes)channels..with the tv not 12 ft. away from him. No he's not one of "those" kinda husbands....he thought he was being funny.....Not! My neighbor will call me from his cell phone to say he's on our porch rather than knock on the door. Peggy

It hasn't happened to me but I received a book a while ago that contained stories and anecdotes about Harry Kalas, the long time and much beloved announcer for the Philadelphia Phillies who passed away early last year. At the end the author added a note to look for an upcoming book 'For Phillies Fans Only' and asked for any funny stories about chance encounters with players or anything amusing having to do with the Phillies ball club. I sent in something funny I heard during a broadcast years ago. The author phoned me at home and said it would probably be in the book!!! Also two years ago I got an email saying that an independent film was being made about nurses in the Vietnam War. It stars Faye Dunaway, Amy Acker, Ben Vereen, Tom Sizemore and others. It takes place at the 24th Evac Hospital and I was actually stationed there. They asked for photo's of what the place looked like and I emailed 6 or 8 of them. I was told that I will get a 'Special Thanks' screen credit at the end of the movie. It has been released in limited areas - not here yet - but I'll be interested to see my name, hopefully, if it ever gets here. Between you & me I don't think it was very well received. Maybe it'll make it to DVD at least.

From what you describe it certainly sounds like he pocketed the $20. I think you are right in calling the manager, you may stop the thefts before they get to be a large amount. When I worked at a convenience store as a trainer, there was a period of time where the tills were always short every day. The manager came to the conclusion that someone was dipping into the till but it took quite a bit of sleuthing to figure out what was going on. As it turned out, one man was ringing up sales and depositing the cash in the till properly with each transaction, but later in the evening he would take a lump sum out of the till and pocket it. He would then void enough transactions to equal the amount that he took. We were all under suspicion for a while until it was sorted out. He was fired and charged with embezzlement as it was a large amount of money he had taken before they caught him. Suzan J

Many years ago, I came home from a trip to find that the construction workers building a house next door to me had fried my electric meter and cut all power to my house. Luckily, I was a renter and my landlord had been notified. He had already cleaned all of the food out of the freezer and refrigerator and put in a claim for reimbursement for me. So the lost food part was pretty painless for me. However, the rest of the story wasn't much fun. You see, my return home was at night in pouring rain. I couldn't figure out why the garage door opener didn't work. I left the car in the driveway and, getting soaked in the process, entered the house through the front door to find that I had no electricity. I had no idea what was going on, so I left and spent the night in a hotel. Luckily, I had clean clothes left in my suitcase. It wasn't until I went to work the next day and contacted my landlord that I heard the whole story. I'm thankful that I owned no electronics back then so nothing was fried by the power surge. The refrigerator never worked very well after that, though. I donated it to a local charity during my next move.
